More concerts, most disappointing

Wire at Electric Ballroom in London, after the brilliant '154'. They ponced about like an amateur panto troupe for about 40 minutes while wearing newspaper hats, then did '12XU' for the punks....and the gig was released on album to top it all!

Canned Heat at House of Blues went on ranting about how they disliked Robin Trower, the main act. They came on VERY late, and Trower was probably worried about his audience leaving, or having to truncate his set. wankers really.

Inspiral Carpets at The Palace in Hollywood. End of tour, looked like they didn't want to be there, and probably were due to break up about then. They duly did exactly that within a few months, so they may have just had a contractual obligation to get out of the way first.

SeaHorses at The Palace Hollywood. They were fairly boring live, and to top it all, a bird I made a date with to meet there didn't show...then later she told me she went, and the guitarist was "such a nice fellow"...so she was tarting herself around backstage like a groupie! Then she didn't want to return the CD I loaned her (she hadn't heard of them until I told her about the gig and threw her the cd!) I gave her a mouthful about her shit manners later, which she took as 'bad sportsmanship' I believe.
Saw her a couple of months later in a pub, where she was trying to point/whisper/laugh etc. with her mate. I ignored her though, as the barmaid proceeded to throw herself at me! I think the silly bint actually made said barkeep curious as to what the attention was all about! Wimmin eh?

Roger Ruskin-Spear at Sussex Uni. I was hoping for a Bonzos set, or at least one or two tunes - but he was all about building silly mannequins and dummies, then blowing them up! Meaningless tripe, not art, and not even slightly funny.

Bruce Springsteen in 1981, when he had a reputation for being about the best live performer around. But nothing he could play could overcome the acoustic deadzone that was the aircraft hangar-like interior of the Wembley Empire Pool (or was it called the Arena then - can't remember, don't care).

The Stranglers supporting the Who at Wembley Stadium in 79, and again in Cardiff a couple of years later. Completely let down by the fact they didn't give a toss.

George Clinton at some music festival in Hackney about five years ago. I was a Parliament/Funkadelic freak in the 70s and I was finally getting to see one of my heroes...but he sucked big time: a total mess.
