Considering that this guy was released under part of the 1998 peace agreement forged by the most recent Labour government, I wonder who Jezza would be rooting for now? The victims of terrorism, or the perpetrator released by one of his predecessors?

Complicated.

He was never actually released given he was one of the 'on-the-run' – the GFA didn't actually cover these individuals, and we later find out police authorities in NI issued the 'assurance letter' to Downey by mistake, nothing to do with the British Government at that time. So had you read your own link in your desperate last day before election IRA thread, you'd know more about the case. :dunce:
