Moral dilemma

I think you have had it. By putting up an "Official Site" and complying with the requirment of the League, even if it only redirects people to your site. The club is seen to comply with the leagues direction, and so the site is an agency of the league, and under it's direction.
Obviously this is attempted censorship and wouldn't happen here, imagine the outcry nationally if you couldn't suggest the ref should have gone to Specsavers.
Only my opinion, I have been wrong before.

May I introduce you to the referee in question?

Note: a) the direction in which he is looking
and b) the location of the play

In the referee's defence he might still be able to see the action from the reflection on his visor. ???

The NSC mods might be able to help, Juan.

We could BAN you from here for posting a plainly LIBELLOUS attack on a man who is OBVIOUSLY the fairest referee in the game.

You could then tell the Club and the Powers That Be that you have been PUNISHED enough.

They will understand and the matter will be dropped.

Let us know if that will solve the problem.

Anyway, to give you some idea of the power that ice hockey holds over here, I have just got back from doing a wedding where the vows included the following:

Bride: "I promise to love you, to be your best friend, and to support you even when your Montreal Canadiens are winning or losing..."

Groom: "I will always be there for you, I will be there to listen when you need to talk - well.... unless the Montreal Canadiens are playing. But I guess we can always talk during the commercials."

The question of whether it is the official site or not is somewhat cloudy. It has been 100% owned, managed, written by me its entire existence, but it has been regarded by the club as the official site ... so we simply put up a single 'official' page on their server that suggested fans would find more information on the 'unofficial site' (mine) and carried on.

so then if you've been actaing as the official site, you've rather made a rod for your own back. given this revelation i'd say you should suck it up to comply, otherwise presumably the club will have to admit to not having a formal official website.

No, they have a one-page "official" website now - they have to by League rules. I also created it but it hasn't been updated for months and only offers people a link to what is described as the UNofficial site - mine.

So technically it is not, but in practice it is the one everyone uses, a little bit like many of us get all our news from NSC rather than the official Seagulls website I suppose.

Well, an update for you.

I turned up at the game tonight and the GM told me the Association had phoned up to apologise! I won!

Not only that, I discovered that the League had stolen my game report and used it word for word on the League's own website, including using one of my own photographs, without even asking. Cheek!

Not sure if you are approaching this from the right angle. If you don't edit then the club is fined, not you. If you give it up then you lose something you love and so do all the people who read your site. It mays eem that you are in a lose-lose situation.

I would remove the comment but add a note saying that you have removed a comment on the referee under duress to protect the club and its followers and that you condemn the behaviour of the authorities.... don't think they can fine you for that and you will get the thanks of the club for saving them.

Juan, you know even millionaires don't like the media and being burned by authorities. And it seems to me you have quite a priveliged position with the club so don't damage that for the sake of those who do get pleasure form your site.
