First of all, yes i would give him up.
My main concern is howhe managed to escape. In a Previous job i use to deliver fruit and veg, one of the places i delivered to was Lewes prison. When i got onsite i had to get out of the truck so that it could be searched, i had an escort from there to the delivery point. 2 gaurds wiuld stay with my vehicle whilst i put everything into a cage, this was all checked by another looking for anything that should not be in the delivery including Bananas.

When i left another search would take place including using mirrors to search underneath.

This in my opinion leads me to Believe that he has had help. Strapping yourself to the underside of an HGV would require help if using wratchet straps.
