Fawlty Towers - priceless comedy, almost embarassing to watch at times.
The Ausi bird when he grabs her t*ts
The one armed builder
The Germans
The Waldorf salad

Fawlty Towers.

My favourite episode is when Basil wins a lot of money on a horse, Sybil finds out and he drops Mrs Richards' expensive vase through shock. Brilliant. Manuel: "I know nothing!"

It's a different type of comedy, how can they be compared?

I was just about to say that!!! Faulty Towers was basically a sitcom albeit brilliantly written......Mr Lehman turning into 'the linen' still makes me smirk. However Monty Python was ground breaking surreal comedy that at times was sublime and hilarious and sometimes was a bit silly. Monty Python spanned decades and F.T was 12 episodes. To be consistently funny and fresh over that kind of time span was incredible, so has to be Monty Python if it can be judged. Monty Python is woven in to our culture....just repeating 'he's a very naughty boy' often has people giggling before everyone trots out their Monty moments. Great Stuff

Some of the Python material is a bit dated and some of it is still pure genius. Fawlty Towers is flawless but you can't really compare the two.

No point comparing as others have said, two very different comedies, one a sketch show ahead of its time and the other a sitcom ahead of its time. One lasted several years and included 3 feature films, live at Hollywood Bowl and a host of others, the other lasted 12 episodes.
