Not sure where you got your info from, but Brighton aren't getting the other half of the £450k until February 06. And it's £50k when he makes twenty/forty/sixty appearances.
The second half of the £450,000 downpayment from the transfer tribunal fee for Dan Harding is due from Leeds next month. ???

And I agree with Toad. Striker definitely wouldn't be my first priority.

We haven't got the money for all of them, I wouldn't think, hence my suggestion about Reading lending us players as they will not play us again after Saturday and if we beat the likes of Wolves, Sheff Utd etc it will help themget into the Premiership.

If McGhee squanders any money in January on 'one for the future' he should be shown the door

And there was me thinking his job was to keep us up and build for the future. I must have got it wrong. Your saying he shouldn't build for the future? And I suppose you are in the Morris camp that we are already relegated too? I must learn to keep up with the tide of popular opinion, its just that it seems to turn so quickly these days.

Molango was 'one for the future' remember? Does us no good at all in the present. With the new stadium opening in two or three years time, it needs a quick and dirty fix for the present i.e. a striker who knows where the back of the net is. We've got a quality youth set up 'for the future' which is paying massive dividends in pay-offs for the likes of Virgo and Harding & the current stream of players coming through the ranks like Jakey, Young Hinsh and Adam El-Abd.

'One For The Future' IMHO is a cynical cop-out by a manager. In effect, it's saying 'don't judge me now, I know he may look like a crap player but believe me you'll all be thanking me in three years time'. Bullshit to that! There's only so many 'ones for the future' we can farm out to lower level teams. Cos, y'know, it's not a case of seasons in the Championship are a bonus anymore. These days are gone. The Championship's now where we NEED to be positioned. And that needs players for the PRESENT.

Agreed. And it is where we are. And that is thanks to Magoo. So until we are no longer in the Championship, or no longer challenging to stay in the Championship then I am prepared to back the guy that dragged us here and kept us here against all odds. I tend to agree with your assessment that we need a proven goalscorer, most would. I'm sure McGhee would love one. But he is the manager and is paid to do what he thinks is best. To sack him because you disagree with the odd decision, or because the odd youngster doesn't crack the mustard is not something I can go along with. No manager would survive long under that criteria.

People keep on harping on about goal scorer but that is clear not the problem, if we held on to have the leads that we had we would be mid table.

This may already have been posted from Sky Sports... in which case, I'm repeating it:

Brighton chairman Dick Knight says that he will hand manager Mark McGhee money to buy a new striker in January.

The Seagulls are languishing in the bottom three in The Championship having won only two games all season.

Albion have been the draw specialists of the division with 13 games ending all-square, and Knight says that a lack of firepower up front has cost them.

Knight says the club need a big target man to help them climb out of the drop zone, and will make funds available for McGhee to enter the transfer market.

"We've got ideas. We have a little bit of money, we just need to find the right person," said Knight, who wants a player similar to Tottenham's Grzegorz Rasiak.

"I watched a reserve match the other night and saw Rasiak. He's not in our league but if we could find a player like him we'd be right in there.

"We need a player to turn the 13 draws into six wins - and then we'd be in the top half."

Sounds for all the world in that quote like Knight has laid down the law to McGhee and made it perfectly clear to the manager that he'll make money available for the striker, the whole striker, and nothing BUT the striker. Christ knows what McGhee would have spent it on otherwise.

Aren't you listening to Toad and Kinky, we don't need a !!!!!!! striker! Certainly not before a left-back, goalkeeper, or centre-back.

Isn't it time you anti-McGhee goons got your story straight? :lolol:

Tell me, do you actually get PAID by the club to be an apologist for the manager and the players who are inert, inept or in some cases both, or is it a psychological disorder? :lolol:
