Molango set to sign for Seagulls

Brighton boss Mark McGhee plans to make trialist Maheta Molango his first close-season signing this week.

The former Atletico Madrid striker impressed with three goals in two games over the weekend and talks are underway to bring him to the club.

McGhee rates the 21-year-old as a future star, and declared his interest after releasing fellow trialists Ibraham Tankary and Zsombor Kerekes.

He told the club's official website: "We're in the final stages of negotiations with Maheta's representatives. He's got pace, he's a good build, he's six foot tall. We hope we're signing a young player with great potential."

Molango could now line up against an Arsenal Under-21 side behind closed doors on Friday.

from teamtalk - no mention of trying to sign anyone else :(

So, EX ATHLETICO MADRID STRIKER pens 2 year deal at Albion?

What, like when an ex-Feyenoord striker did the same?

With a bit of luck he could develop into the next Graham Barrett!

Hmmm... ???

Reserving final judgement til have seen him in action against a higher grade of opposition. Bit of a Peter Crouch-style bean-pole, not an ounce of bulk on him, and none to keen on the more physical aspects of the English game according to the back page of the Argus today where McGhee is quoted as saying: "We're not a team who are prepared to tolerate any kind of continental displays of feigning injury. We expect our players, unless they are injured, to get up and get on with it. I've told that to Maheta in no uncertain terms and I think he will adapt"

The bean pole one was Kerekes and he has gone.

Well the bloke in the photo at the top of this thread bears all of the characteristics of a bean-pole, as did the bloke I saw knock a couple in against Crawley at the weekend.

To be honest I did not think he was that tall. Not much meat on him, but not a bean pole. Anyway he rarely sign players that are built like brick shithouses, the only heavy weights we sign are the Butters of this world.
