I hope Tony does stick to his guns but it’s not comparable mate.

This is Arsenal/Chelsea and everything else that entails and nearly £100m, the price of the Amex, not Burnley and £7m. Plus a it’s generational, international midfield powerhouse talent in Caicedo, not a ten a penny, lower PL/Championship midfield plodder in the nicest possible way.
It’s much bigger but exactly the same principles. Tony will stick to his guns

Honestly? Truly honestly? As a young man you want everything right now, unless you are particularly sensible and/or well advised. MC certainly ain’t well advised right now. The medal? Would not really be deserved now would it, just jumping onto a bandwagon really. The money? I’m sure TB would be happy to pay him a LOT more for the next few months. Injury? This is possible but a career ending one is highly unlikely, anyway, a good insurance policy should offset the worst of that.

I really do believe it would be better for him, as well as us, if he gets his head down for the next few months, continues to impress and ups his price, and then almost gets to choose who his new employer will be.
It’s all about money.
Always has been, always will be

Contracts in football mean nothing.

Unless TB ups his wage structure to match the top boys, this is always going to happen.

I for one don’t want that to ever happen to my club - so we just have to roll with the constant punches.

What you believe is best for Caceido, doesn’t really matter does it, unfortunately.

All those current players liking the post is a bit odd/off isn’t it?

Does it suggest a bit of a disconnect between the players and the club?
Of course they are disconnected... players care about: 1. themselves 2. their families 3. their buddies/colleagues.... and very far down that list comes Brighton & Hove Albion. They want what is best for their friend Caicedo and many of them know that they will be in a similar position one day.

Players have the power. He will go by Tuesday night, I'm sure.

If we threw him in the reserves for six months, it would send a terrible message to other young players looking to join (and their agents).

BTW, don't know if anyone has mentioned... at least 20% of the fee (some say 30%) will be going to Independiente del Valle. Eek.
Thats one of the few beautiful parts about it. Words can't describe how much £25m-30m would mean for them.
When Trossard threw his toys out the pram everyone pointed the finger at him and his agent.
How much involvement did Arsenal have in that?
Are they trying to do exactly the same again with MC?
When Shakhtar sold Mudryk they said that Arsenal were not playing cleanly, tapping the player up for months etc... which is one of the reasons they sold him to Chelsea instead. Seems a bit like this is the current Arsenal modus operandi. And probably a reason why Caicedo may end up with Chelsea rather than Arsenal, if I'm going to guess.
Football agents ay? Lowest of the low.

I don’t know enough to say on it but what % do they get of a players wage? Maybe 5?
The industry standard is 10% but some get more and some get less.

Do they though. Or have agents promised the earth to him and his family? I doubt him / his family have had much dealings with multi million pound contracts before and, unfortunately, it seems like his new agency have taken full advantage
I imagine that the Caicedo family may regard the new agents somewhat differently if TB holds firm and young Moises ends up training with the u-21s until summer.

At the end of my tether
I was very disappointed to read a Guardian article that he openly wants to go....and sad and a bit angry. We all know that he is destined to go to big club but , so soon? Really?
Thankfully we are so close to deadline day that the club can stall it and wait until the Summer. Even from his point of view , is it wise to jump at the first offer? I would want to wait and get the best deal once they all have a chance to offer.

He's a player in a contact sport, he could an ACL next week,
So it would be better for him to be on a longer, more lucrative contract - we can offer that too.

I’d choose to stay at the club that opened the doors for at least a few more months ffs. No excuses. These posts and theories irk me - he’s 21 and will be clearly good enough to have a glittering career in say 4 years. I would 100% choose to stay and show some respect and loyalty - you?
Fair enough.
I would look at earning four to five times more money by Wednesday
It would hurt a bit to say goodbye to a couple of mates but hey ho.
I would be worried that I could get a long term injury before Wednesday which would put at risk my ability to earn four or five times my current salary

All these tweets are written by the the club/agent imo not the player. I was thinking last night, before the current shitfest broke, about recent ones from Barber, Caicedo and Ali Mac. All of them used the phrase “focused on Brighton” and more than once in most of them. What are the chances of three people (two of whom do not have English as their first language) saying exactly the same thing if it wasn’t scripted?
Pretty sure Caicedo’s was a quote from an interview with Brian Owen. The chances of similar language are probably not so slim - that’s what media training/briefing does to players, rather boringly. I agree though that most social media accounts are controlled by agents.

Can't see us letting him go and need to make a stance that we will not just roll over. It has to be right for the player and the CLUB, who hold his contract.
Agreed.

Saying that, I thought the same about Cucurella and look how that turned out.

Bye Caicedo, it's been fun..
Caicedo is a lot more important to us than Cuckoo was, and he'll be a lot harder to replace.

The Caicedo family could do with hiring an agent to deal with Caicedo's agent
One with the correct license for the job in hand.

If you / he wants 4 or 5 times money I’m sure there’s a vastly improved contract on the table from current employer. Sign that 🤷🏻‍♂️

Cashed out on my bet involving us to beat Liverpool - after his social media transfer request i cannot see MC playing tomorrow now.
I agree, although if I were the club I'd be making every effort to change things around immediately. I'd reassure him that he will get his move, it's just a case of when, not if - and tell him that this game on Sunday (just for starters) is important for us, and he has a job to do. And he can show other clubs what they're trying to buy. A long shot, but I'd try.

All fine but he doesn’t actually hold any of the cards. He can want what he likes but he is under contract. This is not comparable to you or I getting a better job offer because we do not get given contracts of several years duration. Well, I don’t anyway.
