What is the point of the the january transfer window?

Once again it’s just loading the cards in the richest teams favour.

Struggling mid season? Being outperformed by ‘lesser’ teams? Just spunk a few hundred mil in January and destabilise other teams ambitions.

When you think about it, football is such a broken sport.

Exactly this, Caceido will be putting in 9/10 out of 10 performances in every match at the heighest level for the next 10+ years. It is going to have to be a huge figure.
CM specialists Kante moved clubs at 25, Makelele at 30.

Caicedo gives his next club 10 years of that as you say.

£100m minimum.

It shouldn’t exist. It used to be even worse, I think clubs could be raided for players up until early March?

Perhaps but they’d want to pay £35m 😂
And all their plastic Twitter kids would tell us that’s more than enough and we should be grateful they deign to do business with us.

Out of interest, IF we qualified for the Europa or Conference League what is it worth to the club?
Our best chance of qualifying is by keeping this squad together until the end of the season.

Yeah... that is a luxuary you can do if you've raked in some £500m in transfer profits over the last six or seven years. Might not be as easy for Tony.

In the end, I think Moises will stay until the summer, but the next few weeks are going to be very sweaty.
Less than 2 weeks to go, right?

Caciedo is the next kante.. they come around every 10 years and he's younger too.. this window I think only chelsea have enough money to buy him on an 8 and a half year contract.. 150 million plus colwill.
If we keep him until Summer.. man united and Liverpool will have new owners and will offer this too and it could be a very fun bidding war..

But in the mean time we need to sign his replacement!

Group stage participation for the European Conference league is €2,940,000. A victory in the group pays €500k, a draw pays €166k. Group winners recieve €650k, runner up €325k.

Europa Leauge figures are a little higher €3.6m for group stage participation.

As for Premier League final standings, last season it worked out to be about £2.65m per place you finished. We finished 10th and recieved £127.9m in TV money etc, 7th place recieved $143.3m.

All in all, qualiying for European Conference could mean as much as £20m odd.

A couple of people have already mentioned this but I do think the uncertainty of this season will work in our favour. I think at least one of the rich bastard clubs will miss out on CL this season so if you are a player why dive in now?

Several will definitely miss out, they do every season.

With Liverpool out due to no CM investment and the top 3 taken imho, Newcastle, Chelsea and Spurs are going for a lone slot.

Hence Boehly’s complete ditching of his mooted plan, they’re doing a PSG.

You don't. It's not all about money. Money obviously is important but wherever he goes next he'll be on 6 figures. His new agents should be saying 'Moises, you want to play at the highest level, let's hold back, Chelsea are a basket case and won't even be in Europe next season as it stands No rush boy'.
I suspect he has one eye on Man U. They're a big, big draw to foreign players. New owners, in the CL, they're a very different proposition.

Maybe

But playing devil's advocate here .... I would need to see him do it at another club to believe it. I was disappointed with caciedo in the world cup.

And there's loads of players over the years that have been hyped up as the next big thing. Look at that Ajax team a few years ago. De ligt and de Jong were touted as the best young things to ever grace football. Both have turned out to be bang average.

Time will tell.
He has already suggested (but not proven) he's less conspicuously brilliant in a shitter team than the Albion (his international team). So you think he may be less conspicuously brilliant in a side better than The Albion? Maybe you're right. But that's a problem for that club, not us. A club with a team 'better' than the Albion who might want to buy him will bid low, if they don't think he's all that, and shrug their shoulders if we say no. A club that thinks he will be brilliant in their brilliant* team will bid high and keep bidding. Whether he is actually any good or not is neither here nor there. So I guess I am agreeing with you. Fourth or fifth time this week? FFS what's the matter with me? ???

*Or if they are Chelsea

No longer, it seems, does it have Everton or West Ham written all over it.

How times have changed :lolol:
