I know our club will be patient with this 19 yr old lad - I hope our fans will be too - just like we were with the Mac... But there’s some great noises coming out about the lad...

Tim Vickery interview with Johnny Cantor. He has a very high opinion of our new player and Graham Potter.

This was such a good listen.

Vickery knows his stuff. It could be that we’ve signed someone who could be as good as Bissouma, but for about £10m less.

Interesting that he was CM instead of DM in the 4-1-4-1 formation Tim refers too.

You know he’s signed and in the squad right?

His playing was still subject to clearance, while that may be a formality as of yet the club haven't said they have it.

Have we had any news on clearance yet? Or any timescale put on getting it?

Yeah. Can he play in the FA Cup?

From comments that Potter has made since his signing, I'd be pretty amazed if we saw him at all this month. Apparently he last played the day before (or after, I forget) we played Sheff Utd. Sounds like he is being given a mini "pre-season", and won't even join the main group yet.

I would be surprised if we saw much of him this season at all.

That was my initial thought

His first game would be as a sub in the first round of the Carabao cup next season.

Though I can't get the nagging thought out of my head. He is a full Ecuador international. It's not like we've signed him from Bognor.

What harm would it do to give him half an hour from the bench on Wednesday? ..... just for a little look (assuming all formalities are agreed)

It's the albion way. Bring them in to much fanfare and then play them in 6 months time.

Fanfare from the club? They didn't say anything before he signed. Just the usual press releases etc after. Any fanfare around this was from our supporters, and some segments of the press, not them!

Umm...I think watching from one of the other seats might be more sensible

Potter was blowing him up to be our saviour and the man to immediately launch our assault on the top half, wasn't he?

“At the moment I think it’s one for the future because I think the last time he played was the middle of December. He has been on a break."

“It’s quite a complex deal to go through so I think we will have to be patient with him, let him settle in.

“He needs time to adapt to a new country, a new team and a new league. But he’s an exciting, young player.”

But Potter said: “The plan is that he will be with us. Of course you have to have a look and see what the right thing is to do for his development.

“But the plan is for him to acclimatise and settle in here with us.”

He added: "It wouldn’t be fair for me to put any real expectations on him for the next couple of months.

“The main thing is to settle in and adapt. He’s not coming in to fix any problems for us, that’s for sure.

“He’s here to settle in and get to know us, we get to know him.”

Oh.

He's still only nineteen, doesn't speak much if any English, hasn't played for a while and is not familiar with the speed of the English game or Potterball. Yeah, let's chuck him in against Leicester.
Or, we can help him settle in, get to know how his team mates play, what's expected of him and give him an environment where the transition from South America to the UK in winter will be more beneficial to all involved....then chuck him in against Leicester!

Full Ecuador international doesnt say too much.

While I dont know anything about most of these players, I know that the main reason they are not playing in the Premier League or other top league is because they are not considered good enough. Full international often means something in League One or maybe even Championship, in the PL its a different story.

Getting thrown into a game before you are settled / prepared / adapted could turn wrong in many ways. Came to England about 10 days ago, gets to play and one poor pass resulting in a conceded goal and he is in for a very long spring, an unwarranted uphill battle that he could probably do without. One of the first sentences he learn in English shouldnt be some "you're shit mate" written on his Instagram where all his family and stuff are following him.

Its better to go slow about it. If he shows in training etc. that he is ready earlier than the club previously thought, I'm sure he could get minutes before the season is over, but the Leicester game looks very early to me.

Wonder if we used Tariq Lamptey as an example to Moises Caicedo of what he can achieve and what BHAFC can offer him. A young, untested (at this level) talent given a chance and proving himself and getting even more attention from the big boys.

He's played against Argentina and Uruguay and up in La Paz. In World Cup qualifying. (Scored against Uruguay). That's not league1

Generally though I do agree with the logic of giving him time to settle. And I do agree that the actions of some of our supporters on social media may force GP's hand in terms of protecting him.

But he's played in big games with the spotlight on him. Bigger games than this one.

I'm sure GP and the club will handle it well.

I'll try not to let my curiosity to see him play affect my posting on this matter.

Must admit, from what I've read, including the article from the New York Times someone kindly posted, the main reason Equador players are not playing in the Premier League or other big leagues is the challenge of multiple agents and ownership of the players. We signed Moises, because we have a good relationship with two out of maybe four key stakeholders which put us in a much stronger position than the likes of Man Utd who walked away.
