You also forget the fact that he's one of 10 siblings, not 12 as this 'article' suggests.
The analysis is even worse than the research!
Yes, now I remember the statement, you're right - So he'll be able to fund both sets of his grandparents too.

Although, I had forgotten to take off his agent's ten percent: Even without a transfer, that's already £78,000 per year, or 16.77 times the salary of the average Ecuadorian that his agent is obviously so concerned about.

I assume you get paid for number of clicks?
Judging by the way journalism and publishing is going there's every chance you wouldn't get paid at all!

Somebody said to me at football yesterday that they thought Caicedo was probably semi-literate. That post from the Ecuadorian fan on here seemed to near-enough confirm it which suggests that Independiente del Valle were pretty good guys who tried to equip their players with some basic life skills, whether they made it in football or whether they didn't. Based on all of that, what are the chances that the boy engaged a lawyer to look over the contract before he signed with his new agents? Lord alone knows what he's signed up for. The scope for exploitation of the player - and many others like him - is truly shocking

Can't beat a bit of "big team" v "teams like Brighton" arrogance on a Monday afternoon!

To be honest I’d expect Berge to be Mwepu’s replacement rather than Moisés’.

unless I’ve missed a greater point here (highly possible), I don’t see a 21yr old earning c£15k a week as anything close to exploitation.

The excellent Rory Smith made a very similar point on the 5Live Monday Night Club a few months back. I'm guessing it was sometime around the beginning of the season when Potter was still with us.

In essence, he said the "big clubs" were happy to let the "small clubs" do the scouting, recruiting and polishing and then pay them handsomely for their efforts once a player was PL-proven.

Like it or not, that is largely how it is, isn't it?

The Albion board have handled this situation impeccably. It is very rare now to get huge deal between Prem clubs in the January window, especially when the selling club does not wish to sell and financially doesn't need to sell.

I think that midfielders like Caicedo are golddust - nobody bats an eyelid at the £100million price tag attached to Declan Rice and yet - whilst he is a quality player - I'll happily stick with Caicedo thanks.

The increasingly athletic nature of the Prem means the Top 6 are desperate for his like. Liverpool have lost their zip and have dropped like a stone, similarly Chelsea's pedestrian football means they're midtable. I think between them Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea need 5 players of that ilk, so there is sure to be a bidding war in the summer.

All depends on the small print tho eh? The music industry is littered with innocents signing away their lifetime earnings to sharks. The football industry is inevitably worse due to the obscene amounts of money involved

yep and then the Galaxy sized clubs come in once the player has been proven at a big club

Exactly. The bare minimum we'll get in the summer is £60m, and that's if MC has an average second half of the season. Arsenal or anyone else therefore need to pay a good deal over that if they want him now, and the extra £10m Arsenal have offered so far is just chickenfeed given the cost to our season. We're still in the hunt for the FA Cup and a top 4 spot.
