I'm not so sure. Like you say it would be counter productive, so it's very much in the club's interest to keep the fans on his side. I'll be disappointed if the club don't orchestrate some press releases to show he's happy to stay etc. And I think our fans are generally forgiving of players who've looked elsewhere but stayed.

I hope your're right and that this has somehow gone a bit "under the radar" for the majority, but this is quite a big splash so I can't see too many being relatively unaware.

If he's in an Albion shirt again this season, then my feeling is that some people will let it be known what they think about this little saga, and BOOO. But I will hold back, because thats not helping anyone. However, next season, when he returns with his "dream club", then he will get absolute Cucurella-style dogs abuse. I would put good money on the fact he’s been offered a new contract to make him one of our best earners, but rejected it, making the whole sympathy-for-his-family card played by his agents even more disingenuous.

I think we all know he’s off in the summer if not now. So if he’s still here in February then I’d imagine he’ll get no particular reaction. We won’t exactly feel like giving him any love but we still want him to play well so there won’t be any hate either.

I think both he and Dunk were both well supported after their respective transfer pushes. In the case of Dale, he straight away got his head down and I remember you couldn’t fault his effort and performances. There wasn’t any negative stuff, at least I don’t remember any.

Stay for the season and have a wider choice of club in the summer. There are a lot of big clubs in dire need of a play like Caiceo, I would guess that he would be in the top three targets (behind Bellingham and somewhere around Rice).

He'll also be six months older and six months more experienced with more to offer his new club.

Still what do I know, footballers seem to be highly impatient in these situations.

I wonder what trickery happens in the offers e.g.
Arsenal to MC and agent: engineer his exit from Brighton now and we offer 20% more salary and agent bonus than we will in June.... who knows, lots of variables I feel
