The dull part of the south coast
Need to do an Ajax here, hold out for 80 then sell.

Young talented players must know they can leave (for the right price) or they wont be as enthused to join.
I hope we don’t do an Ajax. Haven’t they sold all their decent young players from 2/3 years ago, lost Ten Hag, as coach to Man Utd and are now fifth in the Eredivisie?

Standing in the way of control
Appreciate this is a truly devastating development but to those considering the symbolic shredding of season tickets, bear in mind that I and many others gave up on the club when Jeff Minton went to Port Vale, Dan Harding left for Leeds and George O’Callaghan returned to Ipswich, ringing the phone-in each time to stun millions of listeners around Sussex with the burning embers of our self-importance as we announced our outraged, tearful departures.

If you decide to come back, the re-initiation ceremonies become more embarrassing each time. As painful as the prospect of getting £80m and finishing below ninth in an epic stadium is, it’s surely less agonising than being forced to identify Gareth Barry with a seagull on his head in a Falmer train queue of 45-year-old men with poundshop Paul Weller haircuts while Freed from Desire is piped into your lugs on repeat.

That isn't really true

Clubs across the 92 benefit from the Jan window.

AFC Wimbledon have just sold a player for a much needed million.
Ok maybe, but it benefits the bigger clubs more, can’t imagine Everton are pleased Gordon is going to NUFC. I think not selling to clubs in the same division. Just hope TB stands his ground on this one.

Trashing his reputation in the process? The approach so far is hardly rocket science! There are plenty of good agents around that advise players sensibly and move them on at the appropriate moment without all this drama.

Who do you think cares about his reputation?

The player?
A club signing him?
The agent?

I've not looked, so it's complete assumption!

But I think if you went back over previous Jan windows most of the signings are done by bottom sides.

Silly old bat
Maybe Lewis will take him to one side and say "Listen mate, I tried this ages ago and look at me still here, then there was this other bloke called Dale he tried it but ended staying around for ages. If the club get an offer for you they are happy with they'll let you go. Otherwise there is no way you will be able to force them to, so just crack on, do your best and you will get you wish"
Another one who wanted to go in January (to Norwich ) but stayed until the summer, Elliot Bennet

It’s a lot harder to shred these digital tickets 👀

Maybe true, personally I would prefer it if there was no January transfer window. Regardless I hope that TB stands his ground. It’s not dissimilar to a Ben White scenario, just more money involved, 30M-50M, 65M-85M. We have said no in the past.

The agent was employed by the player. He didn’t just magically get involved. You are trying to avoid putting the blame where it actually lies.
Not at all , in my post #4002 i say what you have said , i agree MC has to share the blame , but i draw the line at calling what agents do "a job" .

1/ Tell your client exactly what he wants to hear .
2/ Lie to everyone , especially your client .
3/ Stir as much disinformation-Inuendo and controversy as possible .
4/ Never under any circumstances tell either club the truth .
5/ Make sure the deal benefits you before the client .
6/ Rinse and repeat as often as possible as to earn as many fees as possible .

I don't like Windows, there was nothing wrong with the previous system of signing players all season till the cut off in April?

The window system seems to just be introduced for the drama

All it's done is increase prices of players as you have a limited time to buy/sell

Plus it's absolutely insane to have a window for League 1 and lower, the loan market is a must for these clubs with small budgets and as previously mentioned income through selling

Yes and Arsenals odds have lengthened ….but as a poster has already it could easily swing back ….I’m considering a hedging bet to cover my original stake and a consolation drink
I only stuck a tenner on at 11/2 so can’t be bothered hedging. I will be annoyed if he goes anyway so would not soften the blow.

he literally appointed those agents in the last 4 weeks. He knew what the plan was

I suspect it was more that these blood sucking agents approached Caicedo and just as sex traffikers do....groomed him.. Caicedo is just 21 years old and only knows how to play football. These youngsters are ripe to be used by the agents.

I hope that one day, they will be treated for what they really are. They are no different to human traffikers.
