It's all waffle. Barber has made it known he's not for sale and it would take something exceptional for that to change 60/65/70/75m isn't going to get him. 100m might but even then I doubt it. He will be one of the most sort after midfielders come the summer and I'm sure Barber will sit back and allow the bidding war to start. So far there's only Chelsea and they haven't got close to his reserve price.
Waffle being a euphemism for the excrement from a male cow?

Price trumps all of it , he says they won’t hold a player or staff prisoner if they want to leave and price is met.

IMO there’s some naivety here, Caicedo didn’t appoint new agents without some plan.

And I’m not saying he’s off this window, but I’m not 100% confident of keeping him this window
If one of the golden boys leaves this window it will probably be him.
More likely to stay though but unless Chelsea finds another central midfielder, they might get desperate at the end of the window and pull out the really big cash.

Of course he's appointed new agents with a plan. There was an issue with his old agents which is one of the reasons why ManUre walked away.

Doesn't mean that the plan is to move next week or even in the summer. Only they know what their plans are and those plans will only go into action under the right circumstances.

Sorry, was a bit OTT. Thanks (y)
apology accepted, it's fine, I can understand how unsubstantiated rumours about our best players are incredibly annoying. and tbh half the stuff from professional journalists is rubbish anyway. I posted it just because this incremental war of attrition, and trying to unsettle the player, is totally consistent with the tactics we've seen from the new chelsea board so far, making me think that a story of a £60M bid after £55M was rejected last week seems legit. no real hope of either offer being accepted initially but it may be enough to turn the players head and have him force a move

So why change agents now and not any point in the last 2 years ? Like I say not saying it means he’s definitely off, but agents don’t earn money by players staying put

They do make money from players signing new contracts though. Just saying.

Not being funny but to force a move now is very unlikely also from what we're led to believe it wouldn't be in his nature to go anti. It's only 4 months until the end of the season, giving him reassurance that we will be open to discussions then is hardly going to disturb his career.

Agree with 1st line not sure about 2nd line and that he's too good for us? We're challenging for Europe as a team.
Because we're punching well above our wage in regards to wages. That's the strategy and it's working but it does mean it's unlikely we can hold onto players who'll deserve a wage at the level they're playing at.

Man utd pulled out if the deal was due to the number of agents owning him. Has he got rid of all of them and now only has 1 agent ir am i wrong.
Indeed and let's turn this on its head. Brighton may have encouraged him to change agents as they wish to discuss a new contract with him and didn't want to go through the same lengthy process of multiple agents.

Are you Ben Jacobs, just asking?
No but I’m also not deluded.

There’s some people that genuinely believed we were going to let Trossard rot in the reserves or that no club would meet our valuation for him and look what happened.

The concern I have is the frequency of letting go of key players and how quickly we can bring through a replacement.

We probably have 3, critical players that could quite easily move between now and start of next season - and to do that and retain our trajectory will be incredibly difficult.

How long does it take to change agents? New country, new language, finding an agent that's not got the issues previous agent has, recommendations and DD on new agent, negotiations on % of wages, %of transfer fees and so on.

Plus then handing in notice and finishing existing contract with current agent.

Hardly going down to B&Q to buy a tin of paint.

Probably taken a year to get from the decision to leave, finding a new agent, negotiation and start.

Don’t worry, we will not sell one of our best midfielders this month. Just enjoy the rest of the season
£60m as mentioned all over twitter now. If we give in for under £90m I can see fans turning on the club.
Why does it matter to fans if it’s £50,60 or £200m? Don’t get this fee fixation.

We all have to be realistic.

We are currently living the dream of milk and honey, that in turn comes with niggling thought of an impending nightmare. Unfortunately being a Brighton fan we tend to view life with a, BUT WHAT IF? Some of it comes from the lack of ITK's from the club as they play their cards so close to their chest.

I will add though the players we have sold have all, for a period shown they were open to going.

White, though being here for a long time was never a true Brighton fan IMO. His attitude after Leeds was always going to lead to his transfer sooner or later. His Twitter and that of his father in law.

Cucurella actions or that of his agents with the help of a certain twatter was obvious.

Biss we all knew was running down his contract and it showed in many performances.

Trossard made it clear from the start he saw Brighton as a stepping stone.

Now look at the current situation, Caicedo hasn't said anything, he continues to perform week in week out. All he has done is clear up his agent situation. Mac A signed a new contract. Interested no one has been linked with him. Perhaps just perhaps a huge release clause was added to his contract which has put teams off.

If Caicedo's agent comes out and says he wants to go. Brighton can push that aside for 4 months. He's only had his new agent for 4 days.

IMO he has talked quite a lot in his interviews with Ecuadorian media... certainly more than Ali Mac and others. Fair bit of "we'll see in January" and that sort of stuff.

Seems like a pretty eager boy but hopefully won't push too hard for a transfer.
