I do hope one of the NSC regulars has the 'complete shit - loan him out to league 2' / 'Just what we needed, will turn our season round' poll ready to press the post button for when (and if) we get confirmation

Alex Mc - we had a chance to buy, but couldn't get an immediate work permit. Hence, buy and loan.
Moder - we had an opportunity to buy, but the selling club and player wanted him to remain until end of Dec for competition reasons. We were happy to do that.

So that's 2 of your 3 examples where the buy-then-loan has perfectly reasonable explanation behind it.

Great info but it doesn’t answer why we don’t spend transfer fees on ready made talent but do so on other players that are loaned back out immediately

Because we have a plan for what we want to do

(And wasn't the loan rumour on this one started by some ManU fan who knows next to nothing about the Albion ?)

We are going to have an awful lot of midfielders soon.

Alternatively

We are going to have a lot of awful midfielders soon.

Depending on your perspective.
