As much as you want fans involved in things like this, these awards have very little to do with who actually deserves to win it from the nominees. Fans just vote for the player from their own team, so bigger the team the more chance the player wins.

Yeah but I think 23 is probably a bit too old as well. Seems to me that the 'reserves' are now U-21 so the young player award should go to someone young enough to play in that category.

That's not to take anything away from Mac Callister.

But what if you’re only just on the list for the senior award and destined to be nowhere near winning it? It would seem odd to be excluded from the young player award.

However, if Haaland wins both it will seem a bit pointless.
