Good post.

Mac got one that seemed hugely complex and probably took many months to agree. I’m guessing that it was a clause of £35m but we had an option of add-ons (of which we negotiated £20m worth with the scousers). I think he is coming but it’ll take time to do this deal. With Manure, Chelsea and Arsenal sniffing about him, I have some sympathy with his position. Luckily for us, Barber & Bloom have us covered as usual.
Yep - pretty sure as per Naylor / Argus etc it was a £35m up front mechanism type deal - so we’d have hopefully got some likely clauses in there for the additional £20m. That contract was before the WC stuff remember too. We’d prob only ever do that type of ‘clause’ and very rarely if ever have I known us put a straight release clause on a player. It’s so so rare in England but gets talked about all the time. But like player swaps!

Can we ban people embedding tweets on nsc from twattish big club plastics as this is a football fans forum and it hurts my eyes to see them.
Was thinking this. Wouldn't it be better on here during the window if we just banned all Twitter links? We can use Twitter if we want, separately. It's totally mutilated this and the Moises thread.

If we get two full years out of any player and then another team is happy to pay 100 million + that means the player has been a total success. It's a no brainer isn't it?
Didn't you write this two posts ago?

Anyway... the problem is, a player might just be hitting their stride after 18 months.

Not everyone will be an instant hit like Mitona (post-loan) or Caicedo.

See: Ale Mac; Bissouma; Buonanotte (probably)

So how's that a problem? If he is just hitting stride after 18 months and a team Is mad enough to pay that kind of money I don't see how that is anything other than a win. You could argue 'we've invested time and money in him over the last two seasons and not really had the full benefit', but surely 100 million pounds makes up for that?

While I agree generally, £100m release clauses are relatively rare outside of Spain. Not sure we would manage to get that in a contract anymore than without one completely.

Because a release clause wouldn't anywhere near as high as £100m for a rookie player.

Just offer him a release clause. Just make it at least two years into his contract. If we value Moises at 100+, tell him he can have one for 100. Absolute no loss selling any player for that amount of money.
Personally I'm not a fan of caving in to these sort of demands. It also hints that he has plans to be off like a Cucurella. Asap.

I'm liking signing this player less and less. I suppose, though, it depends on who plan B is. And if there is a realistic plan B.

We think we've been pillaged by the Big 6. Ajax have lost the following XI in the past 14 months, with Alvarez poised to join Hammers this week too:

Onana
Timber - L. Martinez - Bassey - Tagliafico
Gravenberch - Blind - Grillitsch
Antony - Haller - Tadic

I agree to an extent but once you have a player you currently value at 100 million, it's a lot easier to say to a Kudus- we value Caicedo at 100 million, and it looks like someone will eventually pay that. We bought him for 5 million (or whatever). You are a high profile player playing for a huge European club and you're costing us 35 million playing in a position that generally attracts higher prices.

I wish it was a general thing. On politics threads people post opinions from twatter no-marks who know no more than us. Who cares? Give your own opinion.

Yeah I guess it just depends have the market fluctuates. £100m could be a pittance for a player of Kudus’ quality in a few years, or the market could crash. Guess that’s the risk you take. I just if I was a player brought in and had a £100m release clause currently, I’d see that as the same as having none, as it seems rare that £100m is an average price for a top CM.
