I am getting a tad tired with LUFC. Time for them to get back to the Chumpionship where they belong. Like an annoying fly, they do need swatting!

Likewise. In fairness, they must be gutted that having been unable to afford Ben White, they might now be about to see us spend our Ben White proceeds on another player they want but can’t afford. Shame.

this, I don't get why some fans think that just cause we aren't chasing mercenaries on insane wages, we aren't willing to financially extend ourselves for the right players. yes, people will mention the money we owe TB but he's shown no inkling of wanting returns yet and seems committed to continued investment in the project.

it's always been 'right player for the right price', and if that player is a bloody brilliant talent who can step right into a gap in the team then there's absolutely no reason why we wouldn't be willing to up the ante financially in order to get them.
Absolutely, we will spend £30m+ on a player sooner or later, regardless of how people feel about us spending that kind of fee.

Yes. I guess Albion will.

However The only reporting that says Camera was for sale for £30m also said he was having his medical at Leeds yesterday. Ie: they’d made it up.

Indeed. Before this joker got involved, the rumoured fees were a lot less. I suspect we’d be paying ‘Mwepu’ money on this lad.

I also suspect that if Potter wants him, Tony will get him having lost Bissouma from the heart of our midfield.

Not signing players that then get shipped out on loan would have precluded us buying MacAllister, Caicedo, White, Undav and others. Which would have been a shame.

Yes. Either the joke when we're sniffing round a new player - "He's off to Stoke/RUSG" , or its partner; the sometimes serious belief that we're mistaken in developing young players like this forgetting how half our first team squad benefitted from loan experience let alone the pleadings for a signing who will go direct to the first team (forgetting the healthy list of players who do ; Mwepu, Lamptey, Cucurella etc) is now getting a bit tired. We've been doing this for years now.

Real danger of overexposure on this thread, I think we might have to just accept that the picture is not going to turn out well

Mwepu was only around £13m in the end. Think Camara would be ~£20m at least.

Can't see us spending the price they want for him. Too expensive I reckon for our business model. Mark this once down as fanciful.
We do need to replace Bissouma though with someone who can step into the roll and be ready for the season. I don’t think that player will be £8m.

Funny how our latest signing has already been shipped out to USG, for good reasons. Are we allowed to post about it?

What Are we allowed to post about?

hat Are we allowed to post about?

Why is it “funny” ? It’s just normal and part of a transfer/academy approach where some players are loaned but not all of them and not all of em to USG or Stoke, some go straight to the first team and some go to the U23s. Some work out spectacularly but some don’t.
Ha! And The idea that I set the rules about what is posted on NSC. If only. Ha ha.

What's the rush to spend £30m? It's just a number and the present model seems to work pretty well.

where's the OP rushing to spend £30M? they just say it will happen at some point, which it probably will. and it doesn't require us changing the model we use currently to do so.

I was replying to Gross Turn, not the OP and just questioning when or why we need to spend £30m. It's 50 % more than our record and we seem to work with a model that projects more modest fees with less risk and the potential for better outcomes financially and currently playing wise.

yes but the goal isn't to stand still. depending on what you believe we've been happy to offer significantly more money for certain players, deals that then haven't come off for whatever reason.

if we're set on establishing ourselves in the top ten then we need to change the calibre of talent we buy in. all very well spending smaller sums on players when we're finishing 15th every year, but if we don't want to do that anymore then the simple reality of it is at some point we may just have to bite the bullet and bring in players with a bit more of a financial risk behind them.

so it's no really a question of anyone rushing to spend that money, just that it's inevitable if we want to sustain this level of improvement we're seeing at the moment.

If we do get Camara one thing is for sure - he might be left exposed but he won’t hesitate in front of goal, it’ll be a snapshot or nothing.

I shall now retire to my dark room and await some negative views and further developments. :drink:

Soon it'll be refreshed by "off to Derby" every transfer.
