Giving an explanation (even a private one, not necessarily a public reason) would be the courteous thing to do, and in my time on here the mods have said or done questionable things on occasion.

Despite that, I trust them implicitly and reckon that everything happens for a reason, so...best stick to the football if in doubt about whether a thread will be pulled or a FM will be sanctioned.

This is merely a warm up for the sheer meltdown when we sign 16 players next week..

Some classy veiled threats, some abusive language and some all round acceptance of someone having complete and unquestionable power all from behind a thinly phrased "it was a gentle joke" from the YES camp, you all seem to get pretty cranked for someone not liking a gentle joke m8s.

Then we get some thoughts and views with no swearing, from someone who clearly did not appreciate the mod abusing their power for some standard public humiliation. "Hey look everyone I changed this thread, everyone laugh at the OP", and then getting raging at the man daring to stand up for himself in the NO camp.

I certainly know which one I voted :)

This post reads like poetry.

For me, Moderators on here are a bit like Premier League referees:

The Gold Standard is Lord Bracknell. His moderating is largely unnoticed and he lets the threads flow. But when he does step in, he is completely impartial and you'd be hard-pressed to complain about the decision, the sanction imposed and the the reasoning behind it.

Hans Kray Fan Club and Edna are like those really irritating Refs that call Gerrard "Stevie", and laugh and joke with the players and pat them on the on the bottom after awarding a decision. Nobody really respects them, but they are an accepted part of the game.

Hitony has become like one of those Refs that thinks he is more important that the game and everybody has come to watch him.

Like I say, only my view.

Mods are fully entitled to contribute, and they shouldn't have to justify anything.

People have a choice, like or lump.

I like.

How about Hiney? How would you describe him?

I can't imagine him getting the hump with anyone as he has a brilliant sense of humour:p

Should NSC MODS have the power to do what they like, to whom they like, whenever they like, without having to at least explain their behaviour?

Simple yes or no.
Is this about operation Yewtree?

To be fair I forgot about Hiney (as a moderator), simply because he doesn't wear the whole 'moderator' thing on his sleeve. I'd put him in the Gold Standard bracket with Lord Bracknell, if asked. Fair, consistent and proportionate.

So a moderator who lets threads flow (ie does no moderating) is better than one who moderates? It's a good job I pick the moderators and not you.

I would estimate that in excess of 90% of moderating happens completely unnoticed by everyone. Using your refereeing analogy, I'm very happy about that.

Can you highlight 5 examples of Hiney moderating please?

I'll wait...
