World class, usually as in a goal in Mers-speak. Unfortunately that one has started to appear elsewhere now. Stop it, stop it now.

Thanks.

And thinking about it now, it doesn't even make sense. How can a goal be 'world class'? If Planet Earth played Mars, and gathered 11 of our best footballers, a tap-in would count as much as a 50 yard overhead kick...

The Albion official website once used the term 'peno' as part of a headline for a story. :cringe:

"A yard quicker". A yard is NOT a measure of speed.

"He gave 110%" No he didn't. By definition, 100% is the most effort it is possible to give. What really happened is that in all his previous matches, the lazy little toe rag only gave 90%!

The Premier League.
The Championship.
Those of a certain age know that they're really the 1st Division and 2nd Division.

'It's a tough place to come to and get a result' Can't they just say their crap and we should have beaten them, and no they aren't 'a good side'

Can't they just say their crap
Not really because that means 'crap belonging to them'. They could try saying "they're crap."

"simulation" used to be called diving and cheating.

Indeed.

A few other terms (oft' used) which get my Goat include:-

"He's not that kind of lad" - after said individual has maimed somebody with an horrendous challenge.

"He gives us something a bit different". Really? No shit.

Former players who - when commenting on the game - start every sentence with "Listen...".

all the above (haven't read them all) plus

legend - former player
physicality - size
Fergy time - injury time
game changing - ?
"come on" - the shout that goes up when the added time is announced (plus people desperate to see the board before anyone else and announcing the added time)
clapping: a player who's been red carded/an injured player returning to the pitch/a player who gives the ball back after a drop ball/when there should be a respectful minute's silence

not sure why i bother going!

Apologies for veering more toward cliches rather than modern terminology, but...

Lawro observing that a player has 'if anything, hit it too well' when they've just cleared the cross bar instead of hitting the target
Players overusage of 'obviously' and 'week in, week out' during post match interviews
Sky Sports Jim White...just why?
