Doesn’t sound good. Hopefully won’t be too long but fear it is a cruciate.
How cruel can football be. You qualify for the World Cup midweek and then on Saturday within 5 minutes of coming on you get an injury that could potentially keep you out of the tournament.
Hope it isn’t too bad but fear it’s a bad one.
Time for Mwepu and Caicedo to step up.

Feel the sorry for the guy. Has been unfairly dropped now gets an injury that might keep him out of the brightest tournament on football. It’s indeed a cruel sport.

The World Cup isn't till December, so hopefully he'll have time.

21st November is the opening fixture with Poland's first game being on the 22nd.

Squads have to be submitted 30 days before the opening fixture, so October 22nd.

To be included in the squad, you'd imagine they'll want him to have played some first team football ahead of that, so let's say playing by the 1st October. That would give him six months, which lies towards the optimistic end of the ACL recovery spectrum, if that's what it proves to be.

Fingers crossed then.

I was surprised they carried him off rather than a stretcher. Some of the Norwich fans were a disgrace as he was carried past. Why does Football bring out the worst in people?

Not sure, but from the North it looked like it may be the medial ligament which isn't generally as bad as the cruciate (fingers crossed)

Yes seemed weird as he was clearly unable to put any weight on it…I only saw a stretcher appear when he had reached the south goal….some Norwich supporters applauded….but I could also see some twats giving abuse
Really feel for the guy ..seemed to come out of nothing ..Hooper eventually spotted him…completely ignored Dunks head injury later on…dickhead

Didn’t understand why he didn’t star5 the game , looks a bad injury though

All about load……..played a hard game midweek….

Staggered that they tried to take him around the pitch when he was very clearly unable to put any weight at all on his leg, and eventually got the stretcher anyway. Pisspoor from the medical team.

Not good news, but he may have broken Lallana's record of shortest time that a substitute has played before being substituted themselves.

It looked like he was holding the back of his knee where the bend is - whatever this means.

Admire your optimism, but if it is an ACL, six months is unlikely, usually looking at somewhere between nine and twelve months.

Used to be that way but usually goes quicker these days. The average is about 7 months from injuring the ACL to returning to play.

In the best of worlds it is just some meniscus damage and then he should be back before next season begins.

I wasn't being optimistic. I was trying to highlight that he'll need a fair bit of luck to make the World Cup if he has done an ACL.

That would be relatively excellent news.

Non-athlete me has just recovered from a grade 2 MCL tear. A few short months at the very max beats it. A grade 1 tear is just 3 or 4 weeks.
