I just don't really get it? Does the enjoyment come from building the thing? I can't see how watching a model train go round and round a fake village interesting. I'm not going to sit here, judge and call you all weirdos, I just find it a little bizarre.

I thought that but got truly sucked in last night....it's fascinating.

I sort of agree, a bloke spending hours up in the loft or in a shed to run trains around a track is odd.
But I like model railway's and steam trains, so I would pay to go in to see a proper mahoosive model railway that are in some places, like Polperro in Cornwall.
