I'm having a catch up of last night's Mock the Week, and have just noticed that after EVERY joke, some random IDIOTS start clapping!

Does this happen every week, or is this another crap thing coming over from the States? It's getting REALLY annoying.

As if Daragh O'Brien wasn't irritating enough on his own.

I stopped watching Mock the Week as it was all too scripted. Prefer QI as it seems much more spontaneous and you actually learn some useless random facts!

ZACKLY!

Frankie Boyle is always funny and is the only reason i watch it. Gets near the knuckle now and again.

the annoying thing about mock the week is that it COULD be absolutely fantastic

they get some top people on, but unfortunately the format lends itself to being a self-serving joke festival, with most of the jokes being similar to that of the comedians stand-up stuff anyway

ITS TOO SELF SERVING

That is the downside of it. I've seen some of Howard and Boyle's stand up recently...both featuring stuff I've seen them do on Mock the week already. Proves it's not really all that spontaneous. In fact, I imagine the vast majority of it is scripted, which is a shame. The fact that someone above is praising a Frankie Proclaimers joke, that he's done on the previous 30 episodes, sums it up for me.

Good, but occassionally a little TOO predictable.

Agree with you Scarface.

MTW is too scripted, which is shame because I saw Andy Parsons at The Comedy Store a couple of years back for an improv night and he was brilliant!

I've never really understood this criticism of panel shows like MTW and Have I Got News For You being too scripted. Who cares as long the end product is 100 times funnier than nearly all the completely scripted so-called comedy programmes on TV today – which they are. Frankie Boyle's "Things you never hear on Songs of Praise" last night had me in tears.

Can Russel Howard go a week without mentioning a member of his family.
