I have a contract on o2 and have insurance in the bundle, however I was wondering what it covers?

Is it simply loss, theft and damage.

Or can I get a new one for scratches and marks, or fading aswell?

Anyone know?

What if I drop my phone in a drink, or "lose" it?

Then you won't be able to make any calls or texts for a while.

The WHICH consumer mag did a recent report on Mobile Insurance and concluded that its over priced and all of the major Networks are very reluctant to pay up and there are lots of little clauses intended to catch you out and utimately not pay up.

Their conclusion was it was better and cheaper to get your phone specifically covered on your home insurance.

True, but then you lose your number, if you damage it, the sim card is still in working order, or you could argue that you had removed the sim card and "lost" it.

I'm just wondering because at sometime during my 12 month contract I am gonna make full use of my insurance.

Probably in the 12th month, leaving me with a brand new phone, unlocked when I leave the contract, if I decide to do so :lolol:

Which then puts the insurance up for non-fraudsters like most of us are :nono:

Why bother with insurance?

I have an O2 contract. Recently I lost my phone -- genuinely. I went into an O2 shop, they said I was entitled to a free upgrade anyway, so I got a nicer phone, kept my old number on a new sim card, and it cost me nothing.

I have made good use of phone insurance in the past although on my last two phones I've not bothered with it at all. I accidentally smashed the screen on my phone and they replaced it for a brand new one just had to pay an excess of a tenner I think it was.

Clauses like that old chestnut 'the deductable', which will require that you pay more than what you originally got it for before they cover the replacement.

Insurance companies do have nice offive buildings to keep up, they can't just hand your money out like it was there to cover you in case of loss or theft! ???
