Don't often watch the tennis but was watching the French Open women's match on Eurosport an hour ago and it feels and sounds like I got into to bed with them. Some of the moans sound so explicit. It does nothing for me, personally, but I bet some of you pensioners are sitting back and enjoying the young vocalisations!

Do behave. It sounds like a bad porno set in a marathon or a mixed football match. Exaggerated grunting and sports bras. It's fecking annoying but then I hate tennis so I don't really have to put up with it.

It's ridiculous. The LTA should have stamped down on it years ago when Sharapova started all the wailing. The men don't do it and there's no reason why the women should.

Personally, i'd like to have it more as a regular sound in a snooker arena let rip by cue-wielders. Alright i don't watch it much any more and my imaginings are associated with the retired or deceased, but something seems right about the likes of Tony Drago releasing a passionate "ugh" or "here's another one" each time he struck the ball. And Ray Reardon letting out the noise i imagine the deceptive Count Alucard might make, mid-penetrate, as he erotically lunges toward the table with a swan neck rest.

It was Monica Seles who started it.

The idea is to disguise the way they hit the ball so the opponent cannot tell how the ball was struck, for example how much top spin. Men hit the ball harder so they don't get the time ladies have to process the way the ball was hit as the ball gets back much quicker.

I'm guessing that Jimmy Connors is a man. So what's his excuse?

To be honest not sure what they are trying to disguise anyway, there is rarely any variety in women's tennis just two players baseline slogging it until either someone hits a winner or misses. For someone who plays and watches a hell of a lot of tennis I just can never get into the women's game because of this, it's just largely a very boring spectacle.

"sounds like I got into to bed with them'; - that would be more of a 'Yeugh' than an 'Aaargh!' I'm thinking.

As an OAP I think it sounds like a good enough reason to switch off the tennis - that's if I didn't switch it off already because it's err .... tennis. I can make women make much sweeter sounds than that!
