I'll be taking my 6 year old son to The Amex for the first time tomorrow. Having always gone with my mates it's stirred up a few mixed emotions which I've summed up in my latest blog post. As this is actually about football and the Albion I thought I'd share it, though it's for a general audience so some of the Albion references may be a bit obvious for a long time die hard. Anyway read it here. Or not. Your choice.

I'm from a very similar background, with neither of my parents into football much. I'm really looking forward to the day when I can introduce my kids to the Albion.

Have a great day mate :clap2:

....and you should be. Have a great day.

I think my usual game fever is starting to take over from the nerves.

A great blog, I started taking my Son a number of years ago, when the wins home or away were scarce to say the least, yet my son still loved to go, he ate, slept and breathed the Albion and for me I loved taking him, to make things worse he went to school where pretty much all the boys were Portsmouth fans, and as you can imagine he took some real stick, whilst they were in the premiership and going to Wembley, blah blah, but he stood firm, was proud to support the Albion, I used to tell him you will have your day, our time will come and it did in the cup at the theatre of trees and again twice since then. My son is now 20 and I couldn't wish for a better footie partner, I hope your visit tomorrow is the start of a great football future for you and your son.

Took my son (then 3) for the first time against Bristol last season and he utterly loved it, all he's talked about since is the Albion. Now he also has a season ticket (bargain) and although he's missed quite a few games this season (The late Tuesday and Friday games) he's always looking forward to the next one and knows the mixture list off by heart haha.

It really is brilliant taking your children to the football, something I never thought I'd be doing 5 years ago.

Enjoy.

That was a good read, I hope your son enjoys the experience, it can make YOUR experience even better seeing junior so excited on match day.

I've taken my son (now 14) to about a dozen games but the other day I asked him if he wanted to go to the Newcastle game, he said he didn't as he doesn't enjoy watching football, just playing it (which he only does in the school playground). It doesn't help that we have a 2 hour journey each way to get to the game.

Him telling me this was a bit hard to take because, as mentioned in your blog, it's some good father/son time. My daughter (10) has expressed an interest but she was bored stiff when I took her to the Wrexham game last season.

Nice piece, see if mrs can get a few pics of you both before you set off, I did this when I took my boy to his 1st game 6 years ago and he has it on his wall in his bedroom (at his request :) )
