Direct debits - another cancer from the banks to skim money from people by forcing them to use a system full of financial traps.

Really ? If a dd doesn't take for no fault of my own, I can normally ring the company and pay by card, but MORE IMPORTANTLY if the company takes too much money or make any error, I can claim an immediate refund from my bank under the direct debit scheme, what's the issue ?

i received an email, and i am going in there to tear them a new one today. With proof that it was paid (bank statements).

When i moved seats they also changed my direct debit so another account, one that was not even mine, and of course it bounced. I got a letter, went up the stadium, paid and re set up my direct debit, been fine for the last 2 payments.

This is the second time in 2 years that the club has completely screwed up, as last year i got a letter, of which turned out to be a mistake on the clubs parts, and everything had been paid (they claimed i had not paid a penny from the offset and wanted my season ticket back, que printing off bank statements and taking to the stadium)

This time i want an appointment with the chief of the ticket office.....

Right here, right now
The club provide the facility for people to pay for a season ticket by Direct Debit at no extra charge i.e. it causes them a lot of extra admin for no extra money, and poeple can't be bothered to check their bank statement each month!?!?

Presumably the majority of people who pay by direct debit do so because they cannot afford to pay it all in one go, therefore why are they not checking thier bank statements each month anyway?!?! Do people not keep a check on their finances these days? How do you know if you have enough money to last you until next payday?

Good job I noticed this thread, mine didn't go through at the start of the month due to changing dd account. Wouldn't have seen my emails until tonight AFTER the ticket office had closed.

my main problem is the email sent suggest that it was an error on the side of the paying customer when 90% of people iv spoken to have missed D/D because of a club error, from my own experience the D/D missed was April last year

how have the club not mentioned this before a lot of people get paid monthly and will struggle to find the extra cash why not just add a bit onto the next few direct debits

well, update from my situation....

No missed payments, their system is telling them that i am all paid up to date, as per my bank statements. And the gentleman that i spoke to at the club was very apologetic, and did say that this email had been sent to loads of people in error.

Good old Albion, glad to see that they are checking what they are sending out. I bet this has caused some minor distress to some people.

Someone mentioned earlier in this thread, that maybe they should drop the Direct Debit scheme, you could, but i am not sure you would get the crowds that we are enjoying these days, especially in the family stand, or for folks with kids in other stands.

Not everyone is fortunate to have that money kicking about at the start of every season, and therefore the direct debit does make watching the albion less painful..

I just had a call about mine as well, aparently my Brother and Mother were on the list too (although my mum paid her's in full this season) so yes, MAJOR cock up.

Edit, my mother just called me back and my Bro is fine too. Wonder how many other people will have an email or phone call today when they are all up to date?

Alternatively get an 12 month interest credit card and pay off the cost quicker............

Alternatively , save it up every month and then pay it all when buying the new season ticket.

Perhaps next season they should do away with the Direct Debit scheme and make people pay in one go, like every other football club in the country.

Are you mad????? the DD is fantastic deal

Not as far as I'm aware. I just called to pay mine (new Augusts didn't go through due to changing the accounts) and found I was missing one from July last year too. Had no notification through from the club about that one at all. I had also gone in to the ticket office in August to pay a previous one (lack of money due to change of job) as well as the Gillingham ticket and not told about it then either. Guy was apologetic and was surprised I wasn't told at the time too.

Warning!

Got email from club sayig missing DD balance had to be paid before match on Saturday or theywould refuse admission, and charge £10 fee next time. Phoned up as i have no missing payments. apparently it relates to Jan and Feb last session when the club failed to take a DD, which i paid later that season, and the clubs systems had not been fully updated to reflect the payment.

Really pisses me off that they cant get their act together on this (ive had lots of other problems with them on DD). No apology etc, despite the email threats.

No faith that there will be no problems at the gate tomorrow. Prob going to move to annual paymenttp avoid the incompetence...

Got to say, with the greatest of respects that this idea is shithouse.

Almost everyone i know takes advantage of this DD scheme to spread the payments - not many have £650 sheets spare in June to splash out.

We would lose a huge % of season ticket renewals doing this.
