Depends on a number of things I'd suggest. Is it shortcrust or flaky? Does it have alcohol in it? Are you at work and sharing the mince pies with colleagues?

Only eat it if it's homemade, not one of those fake shop bought imitations.

It is actually ILLEGAL to eat mince pies before 1st December. Judges are quite lenient on such things though, so you would probably only get community service or suchlike.

Quite right! Shop bought pies & cakes are rubbish compared to the good old home baked stuff. I love Sundays with the smell of cakes being baked for the week and the sound of Mrs Bulldog slaving away in the kitchen, It really makes me feel good about life as I relax in my armchair supping Ale and watching the footie.

I whipped up 36 mince pies the other day and the Vanilla Vodka Christmas Cake was made weeks ago. Making a more traditional brandy one this weekend. I try and bake every weekend for the kids lunchbox, doesn't always work out but some of my happiest childhood memories are of my mum baking cakes/breads for our lunches.

My God, xmas food is brilliant isn't it?
Home made sausage rolls, roasted gammon (part boiled in cider, then baked with mustard and honey), mince pies, cold turkey. All served with chunky bread, home-made chutney or chilli jam, tomatoes with a sprinkling of salt, mulled wine. Actually scrap the mulled wine and replace with real ale. All while watching repeats of Morchame and Wise Xmas specials.
Lovely.

That reminds me I must get some Brandy today to start soaking the fruit in for the Bulldog boozy christmas cake. Your Vanilla Vodka cake sounds rather nice Starry, If ever you get the time any chance you could pm me the recipe please?

Not quite.

You are allowed to MAKE them if you're 16 but cannot EAT them until you are 18.

The time of year has no bearing. I common misconception.

phew. so it appears I have done nothing wrong, or should I say illegal - obviously eating a mince pie before 11am is *very* wrong.
