After his excellent performance for Newcastle last night there is no doubt James Milner should be in the England team.

He played with skill, determination and energy ... all of which have been sadly lacking in recent England performances.

He was playing against Coventry though. If he could play like that against a top side I may be inclinded to agree.

He wasn't bad against Man Utd the other week. He's still only 22 (holds the record for under 21 caps I believe) so definitely one for the future

He's "demanded" a transfer from Newcastle, Villa may be after him, £9M

I hope Villa get him, as he's definitely a Martin O'Neill player, but 9m? Really?

He's not a goalscorer, he hasn't got any pace. Who is he better than - Beckham? Walcott? Joe Cole? I think not.

Not entirely sure how many midfielders Villa need. Now that it looks like Barry is staying and they already have Sidwell, Young, Petrov and Reo-Coconut.

They do need a right sided midfielder Villa.
Reo-Coker has been playing there i think.

Good player in my book, and by moving to Villa will be basically playing for England anyway !

I'd rather him that the numpties we have in the squad now. Most of the England players have been there for too long, and are too used to it.

Capello should do a Peter Taylor, and basically start playing the kids, who are hungry and want to pull on an England shirt. Not these overpaid prima-donnas who couldn't give a shit about playing for their country because they are on £40M 5 year-contracts.

Exactly. Villa still have a TINY squad overall remember. No more than about 19. No natural Right Midfielder, and only ONE natural Right Back in Luke Young.

Let's get one thing right - the "kids" are on multi-million pound contracts as well. Why should they want international success anymore than Gerrard, Lampard, Beckham et al?

My point exactly.

He's talented. He would be more proud to pull on an England shirt than most of the overpaid prima donnas in the team. So give him a start!
