The dull part of the south coast
I wonder if anyone went to this game and what their recollections are. If memory serves me right it was just after the BBC broadcast a Panorama doc. on Millwall's hooligan mob (Halfway Line, F Troop etc.). Three of us went and it was the first Albion game that we actually decided to sit in the stand rather than be on the terraces.

I must admit there was a distinct air of trepidation in the ground. This was borne out by the fact that there was only a handful of Albion fans in the away end surrounded by the Met's. finest.

The game kicked off and we stayed very, very quiet until Wardy (I'm sure it was him) produced his magic and we went 1-0 up.

At that moment we were on our feet going mad, and so was the rest of the stand as it was all Albion !

The next thing it was like a medieval siege with Millwall fans on the terraces ,beneath the seats, trying to climb up into the stand to take on the Albion fans who shoved them straight back down again! Comical!

Anyway, we won 1-0 left in one piece and had a gloat all the way home.

No but I remember the one when Mick Ferguson scored a late winner in the early 80s,that was fun in the away end!

That will be the one where there was about 200 of us there, and the train journey after the game was a bit interesting

I also went to that game. I was sitting in a cafe with a mate prior to the game. Then in single file walked in a bunch of young looking thugs wearing donkey jackets, obviously looking for Brighton fans.

Watched the game on the terraces behind one of the goals. The middle aged Millwall fans around me cheering on the younger Millwall fans as they attempted to climb over into the seating areas to get at the Albion fans.
Also remember Wardy injuring his arm, & the Millwall fans calling him a cry baby.

The most depressing hostile atmosphere I've ever experienced at a sporting fixture.

Worthing
Pure evil. I was up against the fence and it was raining urine. The locals pissing into their glasses and hurling it over the fence. Some kid with his Dad had a scalding hot cup of tea thrown in his face some guy who was at least 50.
