You're absolutely right, he was!

I think he was about 6ft tall and 7 ft wide if my memory is right.

Ooh, let's name some other players who have been at the club for years but hardly ever played. (Goalkeepers don't count).

Franco Massimo.

Yep...Mike Ring was from Peacehaven

Made his one and only league appearance for Brighton against Wolves.

He was very quick and not wide at all !! very slim !!

Think he played in every division in Britain !!

Last heard living in Portslade way...selling turf to golf clubs !!!

Glen Geard who, when he was 16, Mullery said would play for England but reached the heights, in his 20s of Sussex County League. May even still be playing in the county league.

Went to school with Franco's big brother, Tony. Last I saw of Tony, he was working in a hairdressers in Horsham! God knows where Franco ended up.

I recall him coming on as a second half sub in the famous 7-0 drubbing of Charlton and his appearance coincided with the flood of goals drying up - but it was a long time ago and my memory may be playing tricks.

I think he also came on as sub in a League Cup tie at Huddersfield. He was a bit of a hero of mine as we went to the same school (Tideway) though he was a couple of years above me.
