Be interesting to hear if his version that he reported in to the police the morning after matches up with the video footage that followed, smacked him down with one punch officer then carried on when he was down

Self defense surely won't stack up. Sir
Kier might wanna put a curfew on his team, 3 am ruck at 50 something isn't a good look.

i Haven`t watched it , it was said earlier in the thread , i have no reason to doubt it . I don`t see how that changes the facts though .
Great, you're commenting on something that you haven't seen and of course it has a bearing. There is every reason to doubt it because he wasn't walking away! They are face to face and we have no idea what is being said or what threats were made before, if any. Of course, it still doesn't look great for the now independent MP!

I am waiting to see a surgeon in Salisbury who specializes in spinal surgery . I have had trouble for many years but only recently had a follow up MRI scan which showed considerable damage and a severe curvature in the neck . Long story short a bad blow to my head or neck could result in a partial or complete paralysis , as their is nerve pressure involved , although until i meet him i know very little detail as to what will be done . So i have no sympathy for this coward , there are so many people out there who are walking around with timebomb injuries that they may not even be fully aware of .
My old boss was killed as a result of being punched in similar circumstances and he didn’t have any impacting conditions.

Cowardly thug who needs jail time.

He wasn’t walking away, but he turns his head away in the moment before he is punched. Watch it in slow-motion, they break eye contact, he turns his head, and that’s when he throws the punch.

We live in a time when a lot of people have been saying they don't / can't trust the Police, (like kids who carry knives, etc,) so what message does this incident send out if even an MP choses to ignore the option of involving the Police but instead he decided to take matters into their own hands and resorts to violence by punching someone like that ?

Even if this incident is in any way connected to the 56 year old who was found guilty of stalking and harassment (not saying it is) i can't see how that ever justifies the MP's actions here. Why didn't the MP just get on the phone to the Police to report them instead? (especially as his statement said he felt threatened)

Even if they don't end up attending, the fact you are on the phone to or have made the Police aware of something happening means it is highly likely to be enough to end the incident and result in the other party leave them alone.
Think it‘s more about his true colours coming out rather than a choice per se. Drunken thug in MP’s clothing, probably emboldened by the fact he’s an MP (listen to what he‘s shouting when someone identifies him).

So he’s drunk off his face at 3am but awake enough to throw a sucker punch with the timing of an MMA fighter?

I’m not condoning his behaviour but it’s got to be one or the other, no?

My woke and kind daughter calls it toxic masculinity. Shudders every time we see oafs on road rage videos etc. “Cringe” is the expression.

Why can’t it be both? If someone in their past is ‘handy’, they can still inflict serious or fatal damage when pissed out of their skull.

Amesbury went up to someone and punched them.

No excuse, on whatever was said before.

Shirley you’ll agree with that or do you condone the instigator of violence?
They say a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Playing devils advocate, what if the bloke he hit had been threatening the MP and his family or friends inside the restaurant. What if he had threatened to rape his wife and murder his kids next time the MP was down in London. What if he had punched the MP out of sight of the camera and was standing there threatening to lamp him again. I agree that all the evidence doesn't look good for his future as an MP, or even as a free man, but I'm sure the CPS will consider all the evidence and not just footage on social media.

No, the majority of late night fights/assaults/manslaughters from fighting occur after alcohol has been consumed.

600,000 incidents of alcohol-related violence occur each year, predominantly on weekends.

I’m sure they do. We’ve all been through it. But you’re claiming his timing was so good you can only notice it in slow motion.

He wasn’t walking away, but he turns his head away in the moment before he is punched. Watch it in slow-motion, they break eye contact, he turns his head, and that’s when he throws the punch.
