The other question here is...is this midfield signing the one talksports moose said brighton fans will be very happy with? The much talked about gem?

..........................not if it's Derry

I have an idea that Moose is talking about the striker and for no explicable reason I have a hunch we may indeed be in talks to try to bring Santa Cruz here on loan. If he has got wind of that then he is right as I think it will make Albion fans very happy indeed.

As to the midfield, I think we might bring in a couple, one a big box-to-box man with experience in the Championship or Premier League, and the other a more creative central midfielder. I still don't think we have finished searching in Europe even though someone with relevant English league experience is probably the priority.

I genuinely have no idea whatsoever who those players might be. Derry of course but the Liam Trotter rumours never quite go away and David Albelda as a former colleague of Vicente and Bruno could add experience. McEachran, once the season is underway and he isn't in the Chelsea first team, could be a goer IMO. However, given Gus's ability to surprise we could still end up with someone nobody has thought of (impossible as that might seem) .....................................

I reckon we might have 2 signings before we head to Spain with, optimistically, one to add before the transfer window closes.

Somen Tchoyi is a great attacking player although he blows very hot or very cold with little inbetween (think Ryan Harley with flair flair flair) but you could drive a bendy bus through the gaps he will leave defensively

The joys and fun of speculation.

Whoever we may be close to signing, i trust Gus more than any Albion manager in the last 20 years to get the right man. We have been caught out so many times with signings. I find it amusing reading the NSC experts sometimes.

FACT :lolol:

I think Harley will be a very good player if he has Bridcutt and another solid midfielder (such as is expected) behind him.

I do not normally slag any Albion players off, but where is your evidence for that statement? When he arrived, I expected him to be the enforcer in midfield, but I don't think he will ever be first team at this level. Granted he executed that free kick with brilliance, other than that, he has shown very little.

Depends how we will play. We are fine for wide men but can only see us playing one if VR plays and Bridcutt is a given so a box to box type midfielder like Robson of Boro would be perfect (out of our range but you get the idea)

Andrew Crofts would be a far better option than Liam Trotter, or a few others mentioned. Wasn't he Norwich's player of the year when they won the championship?
