Yesterdays midfield, had not one player in their correct position, the four who started should have been in the following positions:

Oatway (CM) - Not Present
Carpenter (CM) - Bench
Robinson (RM) - Bench
Hammond (LM) - Centre Mid

Therefore the midfield that should have been played would look something like:

Carole (RM)
Hammond (CM)
Nicolas/Carpenter (CM)
Knight (LM)

oatway was piss poor yesterday, and we have to move hammond inside, he is wasted out wide

as for carpenter, i would stick with him. he showed flashes of why he has been a solid performer for us. as for the widemen, we have to get some people out there who know what they are doing - such as leon and the frog

I agree its time to move Hammond in to the middle but with chippy and oatway playing badly maybe its also time for Alexis as well

whats wrong with Reid in center midfield and playing El Abd at the back

Goalkeeper

El Abd Butters McShane Todd (who supposedly can play anywhere along the back)

Carole Reid Hammond Knight

Robinson El Turi/CKR/McCammon

Looks ok to me

It's "time" :lolol: The same people on NSC have been calling for Oatway to retire for the last 3 years :clap2:

Give it up - it's not gonna happen!

We've all known that Oatway can't pass and I groan every time he gets the ball. Now he doesn't seem to be able to tackle either so what's the point of him?

Don't get me wrong, I don't think you can fault his attitude or commitment but he doesn't have the aptitude for football at this level and should be a squad player at best.

I have said before there is room for Oatway or Chippy but not both. Every team needs a water carrier. One needs to make way for Hammond.

On current form I would choose Chippy to partner Hammond.

Sorry Charlie but if Chippy gets injured or suspended then you are back in the side.

As soon as we get a viable alternative for the left side of midfield, ie someone who can also cover defensively as well, then McGhee will move Hammond inside. He said as much last week. Its patently obvious he's wasted out there.

Carole can play either side of midfield or behind the front two, play him on the left and knight on the right and stick Turienzo up front with Kazim and lets get some crosses into them early ie when they are running in not wait until they are standing still.

This is what Peter Taylor said on the topic:

"Charlie Oatway did some good things and Chippy (Richard Carpenter) was fantastic. Some of his passing really hurt us."

But of course your going to tell me he knows sweet fa

Oatway is only playing at the moment because he's the captain. Any other player
would have been dropped if they were playing that poorly.

I still think he can be a non-playing captain, like Rodgers, enabling him to remain "a presence in the dressing room", continue writing his witty programme notes and playing all sorts of japes at the training ground, whilst allowing us not to have to put up with his inept footballing.

We have that right for as long your BNP mates don't get anywhere near power :salute:
