Bridcutt -0 goals,5 assist
Hammond- 1 goal, 0 assist
Crofts- 0 goals, 0 assist
I know you can't read loads in to stats but Hammond and crofts need to step up to the plate in the coming weeks.

Crofts passed the ball to bridge for his goal v Barnsley, he also persisted to win the ball and lay it off for Barnes to score v Blackpool.

Also, One of the assists for Bridcutt is for Charlton a game in which one goal was a long ball from bruno headed forward by the defender into CMS pass, the other was a lualu freekick for a foul on barnes. One was for Sheffield Wednesday for tapping the ball to Bridge from a freekick, so is quite generous to call it an assist, imo (much like it would be generous to call Crofts's pass to Bridge an assist, given how far out they were and how it was made by Bridge when he had possession).

The AP stats can be wrong. According to them we only had 7 shots and none on target v Forest, despite 11 shots in the first half alone and both Calderon and Buckley forcing saves from their keeper.

Also worth noting,
Hammond has played 1451mins
Crofts has played 943mins

Whereas Bridcutt has played 2161 minutes.

What's not really his job? Why cite the stats about goals and assists, then tell the others they have to step up if your point is that it's too negative to play them all together and that Bridcutt shouldn't be doing it anyway?

Bridcutt is the sitting player out the three but has more assist . Bridcutt should start every game then either Hammond or crofts then Vicente , orlandi or jfc, but two are injured and 1 isn't at the club. O and we are struggling for defenders and vincelot is out on loan mad decision been made this season.

But at least three of Bridcutt's assists he only has because he takes free kicks - situations where almost the entire team is in the final third of the pitch, however deep they are supposed to sit.

Crofts and Hammond have started together just 4 times out of the 19 games the two have both been at the club.

4 times too many not 'just'

The 'system' we play negates the midfielder's natural impulses to attack, meaning they are playing in a manner alien to all footballers. The normal mode is to get the ball forward and attack the goal, but they are being told not to do this. Also, why is LL not starting games when he seems able to score at will ??? It seems a foolhardy adherence to a system that is being proved not to work is being followed out of pigheaded stubborness

:lolol: Acker79 you are the stat master! Love it! Are you studying statistics or something or just like doing it? Also, are you ever planning to make your stats viewable to NSC? :)

I did stats at A-level many years ago, and I do enjoy them (I also enjoy playing around on excel). I did used to post a bunch of stats every ten games or so, but felt like I was clogging up the board, so just keep track of them and post when needed. I tend to use the AP stats so some of them (shots and assists mainly) are a little debatable, but I might compare them to the club page (which last time I checked didn't give a break down of who had how many shots in a particular game like espnsoccernet does, even if it uses AP info).

What ever people think about stats there is something in this. We bang on (and on) about strikers but we lack a creative midfielder.

Bridcutt hasn't been at his best for a while, maybe he can't play along side another holding midfielder and needs someone more advanced in Gus's crowded centre of midfield. Actually in the last month I would go as far as say that Hammond has been the better player as Bridcutt has been giving the ball away far to cheaply.

We need to play either Lopez or Orlandi behind a front one / two and add some much needed flair in the centre of the park and hopefully create quality chances and not scraps.

Last, JFC is not the answer, he did not set the world on fire at Oxford so why will he did it in a side pushing for a play-off in the Championship.

To my knowledge, the last two games Lualua started were a behind closed door friendly with watford in which he put in a terrible performance (but responded well in training to earn a spot on the bench v Charlton - LuaLua is back in the good books From The Argus)), and Ipswich in which he received an NSC average rating of 4.06 out of 10 (and Lualua is a popular player who people tend to mark generously because they like him - Player ratings v Ipswich?).

He is usually really good when he comes off the bench (though has been reluctant to use his pace and take on his man a couple of times), but when given a chance from the start has not done as much to justify his place. Though now he doesn't have a court case on his mind and is a transformed player (LuaLua has been transformed From The Argus)) I wouldn't be surprised to see him given a start today. Whether he makes the most of it is up to him.
