One of the 679 Albion fans at the game today wanting to redress some of the posts on this thread. We were playing Boro away who are playoff hopefuls. We started brightly and should have taken the lead but Kaz's 25 yard screamer from a free kick lay off hit the post and spun the wrong way with their keeper beaten. Casper's gaffe ended up with him and Dunky colliding on the 6 yard line and McDonald stroking the ball in from 4 yards out. We seemed to be inviting pressure and standing off when Boro were in the final third , you could see that they had 2 or 3 options on each attack. Much the same in the 2nd half and we did fling a few crosses into the box with Barnesy heading it wide late on and Casper pulling off 2 stunning saves in stoppage time. On the yellow card front , the referee didn't hand them out to Boro players who did exactly the same or in fact give us a free kick (Tanno flattened in the 1st half , Nooney barged to the ground) Bridcutt was scythed down with studs showing but when a Boro player was going down before the tackle went in the referee gave a free kick and the card came out. Late in the 2nd half the lino on the left put his flag up , referee signalled "play on" and because lino didn't put his flag down 30 seconds later the ref decided to blow the whistle and award Boro a free kick. The same lino got 2 corner decisions wrong which led to the 5th booking for dissent. One of those games where an equaliser would be a point gained but it wasn't to be. To Palace fans gloating on here this Boro side wasn't mainly the reserves that you beat in the Carling Cup in front of 5,448 fans or the line up that beat you 3 days previously.

yes my posts are really happy...........fact casper cost us the game today fact barndoor billy is wank fact barnes is in the worst form off his Brighton days.......

Casper made one mistake but a couple of cracking saves too.

To be honest it was similar to Watford, Birmingham and Forest in that we did not create hardly any chances.

We didn't deserve much, Boro were better than us

Just got home, have heard that NSC is apparantly full of people moaning but haven't had a chance to read it myself yet.

Despite the result I was very happy today, thought it was our best performance since Cardiff away.

M'Boro are a top side in this league and I expected pre-match we'd be under the cosh the whole time but that wasn't the case at all.

We competed really well, we defended really well, we passed the ball very well and had longs spells in possession and we looked reasonably dangerous going forward too.

Nooney shot just wide, Kaz hit the post and Greer and Barnes both missed golden opportunities with free headers just yards out. It's frustrating that a goalkeeping error has cost us, but if you put that to one side, man on man vs a very good side, we were good, we edged it I think. Other than a great Casper save near the end they didn't have much to offer.

Good performance, bring on Burnley!
