Still, if we remain undefeated for the rest of the season (including penalties) and we are up!

Not sure 5 draws next up would be good enough - undefeated, yes, but into the lottery of the play-offs.
In the p/o semis, do away goals count extra like in European comp? Like we have a 1-1 at home and a 0-0 away do we lose or does that go to pens?

How is this thread so complicated.

Best Case:

'Boro LOSE tonight.
Burnley LOSE on Saturday.
I know. I think Talor and Rugrat are being silly to annoy me (it's working). I'd be cross if my dog couldn't grasp it.

I think it's best if Burnley and Boro pick up maximum points for the rest of the season and we finish 3rd. That way we can enjoy the playoffs and a day out at Wembley in the sunshine before being promoted. Play off winners also get a trophy and I think that is our best chance of picking up some silverware this season now.........:)

Something that just caught my eye whilst looking at tables, results, fixtures and stats for many hours is that Middlesbrough have been spectacularly good against top half sides...
The late arrival at platform 2 is the Mallard. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused to the deceased.

No offence Bozza, but we knew that.

I think the 2nd placed team get a trophy too now, for being promoted. They realised it was silly that they got less than the team finishing below them.

I'm with you on maximum points for Burnley and 'brough though.

We won't finish above Boro (insert likelihood here)
We will finish above Burnley (insert likelihood here)

For the record I'm about 80% and 70% ... I'm putting all my Karma into doing Burnley in

No they don't

What percy is saying is that if we don't lose any of our games we will either win promotion or win the play off final

Yep - regardless of tonight's result, the likelihood of finishing above Burnley remains about the same. If 'brough drop points tonight, the likelihood of finishing above them increases.

Hoping 'brough win so that they have a better chance of beating Burnley in a week's time is insane.

Surely it would be better if 'boro lost all their remaining games.
Except their game against Burnley. We'll probably want them to take points off Burnley.
What's all this draw nonsense.
It's worse than that, a couple of posters want 'brough to win tonight!

You're right ... but results of last 7/10 days have me firmly fixed on us overhauling Burnley. Anything, just anything that will go towards that is a bonus. As it stands right now, Boro thrashing them would be superb (hope I don't live to regret that!)

Right now I'd happily take 'brough thrashing Burnley. But I'd like them to drop some points before doing so.

How about if both Burnley and 'Boro drew 0 - 0 and both lost all their remaining fixtures.
See, I'm in fantasy land too.

'brough are 8/15 on to win tonight - fair enough. But Hull are the same odds to beat Wolves on Friday. That's Hull, who've won 1 game in the last 8, against Wolves who haven't lost in 6. Lay!

What? Why would a draw be better than a loss?

Surely we want Burnley and 'brough to get as few points as possible.

Regarding our final position against 'brough, yes, but for our final position against Burnley we obviously want more. I'm not sure what you're getting at.

Right, so we want the top two to drop as many points as possible, you just didn't want to be greedy.

I'm sorry this is a bit rude, but your OP is that we want 'brough to drop points - no shit!

The good news is that the bookies think Burnley probably won't win. Similar odds to our game yesterday.

No. Just no. Trust me here when I say 'no'.

You're so wrong you've put my head in a spin and I just want to shout at you both, so this may come out a bit wrong:

If 'brough don't win tonight, they'll still get a win against Bolton on Saturday, and they'll be up for taking points of Burnley next week anyway. If they drop points tonight and next Tuesday (which, by the way, appears to be your worst case scenario) then they've dropped at least 4 points. We can go level (points, not GD) with them and Burnley after the same number of games played. Yes please.

At the moment it looks like our best chance is to overtake Burnley, but if 'brough our chances of overtaking Burnley will not be reduced, and our chances of overtaking 'brough will increase.

'brough could win tonight, then lose at Burnley. It wouldn't be half as bad if the lost tonight and lost at Burnley, we could overtake them and only need a draw at their place.

Seriously boys, have a word with yourselves.

I think the 2nd placed team get a trophy too now, for being promoted. They realised it was silly that they got less than the team finishing below them.

Just can't resist, but where did this come from?

Realise the stats about Boro and bottom half teams but if TINPOT Reading get anything from them I'll be amazed (and very happy).
