The creation of Israel in the way it was created was folly. But that's history. And so your take on the last 75 years is partial. The Arabs have always wanted to throw the jews into the sea. America holds all the cards. The 'international community' is what, exactly? The whole world? This hjas all been dealt with mose eloquently on this thread by @Zeberdi and others.

You will be please to know that some in Labour have been 'speaking out'. Oh....hang on....

Unfortunately it is now too late for labour to bin their candidate in the Rochdale Byelection who has apologised profusely for saying "They deliberately took the security off, they allowed … that massacre that gives them the green light to do whatever they bloody want.”. Oh dear. They wanted to be beaten up. It was an open invitation. Contributory negligence!

Anti-semites just cannot help themselves it seems. However because the candidate cannot now be replaced because the byelection is too soon the right is having a field day by claiming that Starmer supports the antisemitism. Even the Independent; from their website "Meanwhile, Labour is facing mounting pressure for their continued support of Rochdale’s by-election candidate after he claimed Israel deliberately relaxed security to allow Hamas to carry out their 7 October attack, to provide grounds to invade Gaza."

Politics is the art of the possible. For you some good honest condemnation of Israel seems to be the start and the finish of it. Join the queue, but be careful to not get too chummy with the bloke in front of you.
Why do you think what the Rochdale Labour candidate

What the Labour candidate said was antisemitic? It’s possibly incorrect but why antisemitic?

It's conspiracy theory piffle that's close to Antisemitic at the least. Add him blaming "People in the media from certain Jewish quarters" for another candidate's demise sealed the deal.
He appears to be a brain dead fool who has a problem with Jews & that's just going by what he's said on the record.
For Starmer to be prepared to give this seat away is a hell of a precedent (a good one, imo)

I think this thread demonstrates why humanity will always have these problems until we eventually wipe ourselves out.
As do half the threads on NSC - people not listening, trolling threads or people they don’t like, not being able to see nuance in situations and incapable of stepping outside the echo chamber. But there are also great debates, informed discussions and compassion for others expressed too.

’Humanity’ isn’t perfect and reflects a broad spectrum of people, some of whom are genuinely good people and capable of embracing those that come from different cultural/ethnic backgrounds.

Humanity has the capacity for ’good’ as well as ‘bad’. It’s all down to the choices we make as to how we behave/live.

We can do better than that.

Consider, mainstream telly no longer shows Bernard Manning, Love Thy Neighbour, or that other shite, name escapes me (language school, where we can all laugh at the silly foringers).

One, if one has the bent, can always find shite to wank over off the internet, and there will always be a swamp.

Meanwhile he rest of us can rise above, as we engage with better

You fool!
"Mr Ali is alleged to have blamed "people in the media from certain Jewish quarters"

Which certain quarters would that be? The money lenders? The Zionists? The Great conspiracists? The usurers?

Or the antiquarians. Or the philosophers. The physicians. The architects?

Mmmmmm...........now let me think a bit............Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm........

Gods country fortnightly
Filmed over a year an insight of how life for the Palestinians in the West Bank has gone from bad to worse. Driven from their land by illegal Israeli settlers, meanwhile the army looks the other way.

A tough watch...

Quoting the UN report.

''Palestinian women and girls have reportedly been arbitrarily executed in Gaza, often together with family members, including their children, according to information received. “We are shocked by reports of the deliberate targeting and extrajudicial killing of Palestinian women and children in places where they sought refuge, or while fleeing. Some of them were reportedly holding white pieces of cloth when they were killed by the Israeli army or affiliated forces,” the experts said''

Breaking news: 77 people killed and about 250 injured by Israeli strikes while waiting for aid

Nothing on the BBC, Sky News, ITV or Channel 4 - but there is this bit of essential breaking news on BBC World:

Breaking news update: At least 104 killed and about 750 injured whilst trying to access aid (bags of flour).

BBC and Sky News have caught up with the news, and seek clarification from the IDF. Three available options:
1. Stampede
2. A truck (driven by a civilian)
3. Hamas

IDF possible causes are ridiculous

1 Stampede - You can hear the gunfire
2 Truck runs them over - You can hear the gunfire
3 Hamas - This is northern Gaza that the IDF cleared out weeks ago.

I saw a photograph yesterday of the remains of a man who had been bulldozed by the IDF it's the worst picture I've ever seen and I can't get it out my heads its f***ing me right up.

The most gory thing I've seen

And to think both Sunak and Starmer are have backed/are backing this.
To some political cost I think.

Biden too - some Dems threatening to withholding their support for a President who is being referred to as ‘Genocide Joe’ in some quarters …and the Michigan Primary showed that Biden’s position on Gaza could alienate votes in swing states that have populations with a large Arab/Muslim demographic …

”In a statement, Mr Netanyahu cited polls showing that more than 80% of Americans support Israel during the conflict in Gaza.”. However, ’supporting Israel’ and her right to exist and defend herself does not conflate with supporting genocidal policies towards the Palestinians as Netanyahu would like to suggest:

It disappoints me in the general lack of engagement, empathy or concern about events happening in Gaza and the West Bank. Not just here on NSC, but from politicians and public figures generally. No condemnation of Israel from either Tory or Labour (not surprising perhaps), and any murmur of dissent from anyone (i.e. Charlotte Church) is met with accusations of anti-semitism, smears and public shaming. No calls to send Netanyahu to The Hague, unlike with Putin over the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Instead we have reports, telling us that a bunch of Palestinians are dead, but not pointing the finger at those holding the smoking gun. There’s a dead body, but it’s all a complete mystery about who pulled the trigger. And the headlines (and sometimes even the main report itself) are all drenched in the passive voice.

I implore everyone who is at all curious or concerned about how these events are presented to us, to take a look for an alternative view at Aljazeera News. It's not perfect, but unlike most of Western media, it has actual reporters IN Gaza*, talking to people and observing events there, and not constantly having to self-censor for fear of upsetting the Israeli propaganda machine. Surely, it’s important to listen to the people who are directly affected by the events they experience? We don’t have to wait for Jeremy Bowen** sending his dispatches from Jerusalem, having to carefully watch his words, lest he accuse the Israelis of actual participation in a war that they are engaged in and that the US, UK and EU governments are actively enabling. Or Israeli spokespeople, to hear their accusations of anti-semitism towards anyone who questions their spinning of events.

We believed the reports from Israelis when Hamas attacked on the 7th October, and when, for example, 10 people were killed by Russian gunfire whilst waiting in a queue for bread. So why not the Palestinians?

*Around 120 reporters and press photographers (as well as many, many members of their families) have been killed by Israel so far. That there has been so little reporting about this is saddening and deeply shaming for the press in the West.

**I’m not attacking Jeremy Bowen here, for not reporting from Gaza. Western journalists are prevented from reporting from Gaza by Israel, because it’s too dangerous! Indeed, 55 journalists have sent an open letter calling on Israel and Egypt to provide "free and unfettered access to Gaza for all foreign media".

Perhaps read back on the thread and you will realise why people on NSC, including myself don’t bother to comment on here now or very little. Everything you said in your post above, I and a few others have said hundreds of times over 😕

Ah sorry, apologies. I only dip in and out, as I'm not on here 24/7.
