Running on vista, however no Microsoft word on p/c. Any advice on the best way to get it,and install. :bigwave:
Car boot sale will be the cheapest option. Expensive if you buy an official disc version.

At the foot of the downs
If you want all the stuff that Microsoft Word does, but don't want to pay try Open Office from http://www.openoffice.org/ - its free and just as good...

I run openoffice on my Mac, I'd query you on that you say thats its just as good, Id say its much better, it seems much more flexible and loads more robust ... :)

The only downsides are that it will do MOST of what MS Office does, not everything. I've found a couple of fairly minor things it won't do, but they in the todo list for it.
Some parts of OpenOffice are also more resource-hungry than MS Office (i.e. it'll use a lot more memory and processor capacity). But, again, this probably won't be an issue for you :)

I'd have more concerns about running Vista, to be honest.

And considering the Mac port of OpenOffice is admitted (by Sun who produce it) to be a complete ball of arse at the moment, thats saying something...

Theres a heavily tweaked OpenOffice for Mac thats a lot better, NeoOffice, and theres one for Windows that has a way better Excel compatibility mode called Go OO (http://www.go-oo.org).

Im all for Open Office. Anything to save money. I have tried to get people at work to use it, but they are just a bunch of moaners and say its not as good as Office.

I have managed to get people using Firefox which is one step forward in my eyes. However I notice that when my back is turned IE sometimes get used.

I reinstalled Windows on one laptop, with both IE and Firefox. I was given the laptop back saying that it was running slow, this was after a few weeks.

I Decided to open IE and guess what, lots of new handy search bars appeared in the browser.

When will people learn? I don't think they ever will.
Some people can't even drag files in to a new folder so what hope is there in trying to get them to understand about how crappy IE is and what Spyware is.
