Maybe...

Microsoft Corp. said on Friday
that it had offered to acquire Yahoo Inc. in a proposed cash
and stock deal valued at $44.6 billion.

Microsoft said that it had offered to buy Yahoo for $31 per
share, which it said represented a 62 percent premium above
the company's closing stock price on Nasdaq on Thursday.

Does anyone actually use Yahoo?

I think the extent of me using it is to check the share price of the company I work for, most mornings, as it's listed on the Australian Stock Exchange.

I occasionally use Flickr, which they own; but not any Yahoo branded services.

Used to use their search engine/directory before Google became all dominant in the late 90s.

Yahoo! is massive in the US - and many other parts of the world.

Yahoo! Mail is most popular mail product in Europe.

UK portal front page attracts millions of page impressions a day.

thats only because half them who signed up to Yahoo dont understand what a PC is and if you ask them to "change their homepage in the settings" they would'nt have the FAINTEST idea what your talking about!

Nope, not true. Yahoo! isn't an ISP so unlike, say, Orange or Virgin, it isn't many people's homepage in the UK.

Why? Microsoft don't currently force Hotmail on you, do they? :jester:

If you go into outlook and add a new email account - ever noticed that Hotmail is the only one referred to by name? They don't force it on you but they intend to make it the easiest account to add...

Wow, that's a major inconvenience, that, eh? And definitely a sign that you'll "immediately be required to have a yahoo account" if Microsoft buys the company. :jester: :jester: :jester:

Tell you what, why don't you run along and do the washing up or something while the big boys are having this discussion. Cheers.
