Micky Thomas memories

A mate of mine is meeting Micky Thomas later this week and is looking for guidance as to how he should treat him.

He knows about the conviction for counterfeiting but he's looking for other incidents that he could mention.

If I recall correctly, Thomas lived miles away from Brighton, didn't turn up at training very often, didn't show much interest in playing for us and generally took the piss.

Anyone confirm that and add any other memories.

Is your mate a reporter then?

If he has nothing against the guy how about a civilised conversation about a mutual interest of football and the Albion?

Let bygones be bygones, after all whatever he did, he's no Bill Archer!

He even sold his story to The Sun. laughing at how "Soft" the Albion were allowing him to get away with it!

Shame he went inside!

I remember I saw him playing for Stoke at the Goldstone, just after he'd left us. I was in the East Stand, he was just about to take a throw-in right in front of us and it was deathly quiet.

Then, a voice from the crowd shouted out (in a strange West Country accent):

"Mickey Thomas, you little Welsh bastard!"

He heard it and was NOT happy, great stuff. (BTW, they won 2-1 and he played really well, the twat).

Good stuff: I didn't know about the Sun and I'd forgotten about the screwdriver.

My mate's not going to wind him up: he just wants to be forewarned about things in case MT rewrites history.

At work - probably
I remember him dribbling past about 5 defenders and almost scoring but the keeper rushed out at his feert and blocked the shot. It was the only thing I remember him doing in an Albion shirt....just can't remember who it was against

I met Mickey Thomas once and he's a nice bloke. He's quite happy to laugh at himself about the counterfeiting and being stabbed in the arse. He's even got a gag about "I got punished for having sex with the wife.........only thing was it was someone else's wife."

He never really wanted to be at Brighton - and admits, if I remember rightly, that he'd sometimes go awol on benders when he should have been training.

I'm behind you!
Well, your mate could ask him how many lasses he used to bed at one time at Courtlands. That would bring a smile to his face. Indeed memories.

I don't think she ever left N Wales. That was part of the problem. The fact that he also shagged everything that moved also didn't help their long distance relationship....

He was a bad buy, not because he was untalented, but because it was obvious he didn't want to be here.
