Not on the 'Withdean Years' DVD, not in the Michel Kuipers programme either.

Does he not speak to the club after he was sacked?

No such problems with McGhee, Coppell and Slade.

In a pile of football shirts
FDM never forgave him for subbing him at Southend at half time.

When we were going on marches about Falmer at the political conferences on the seafront,Mickey was manager at Coventry and they had a game the next night...but Mickey was there adding his support to our cause.

it does seem a bit odd...........wilkins' sacking was much harsher, but still seems to have a decent relationship with the club.........mcghee took us up, kept us up on a shoestring budget, but inevitably struggled and was sacked- no problem with the club.........slade performed miracles in cleaning up adams' mess, was still sacked and has no problems..........what's adams' problem then, surely he can't have many complaints after being sacked for an absolute horrific performance in his second spell?

the withdean years dvd needed some input from adams as he was a massive part of that era..........same with kuipers- he brought him to the club and managed him in two spells..........there was input from mcghee, coppell, slade and poyet but no adams

i wonder if the issue is from the club or from him?

Great shame IMHO, and maybe more should have done by club to try and patch this up.

Adams is a big part of our recent history, no one who went lots during his first spell will forget the team he built from nothing and dragged up through the league, leaving a side that Taylor steered to the Championship.

He also spoke well and often about the need for Falmer even after he went to Leicester.

And as far as Kuipers is concerned, airbrushing him out is a bit weird. He is the manager that signed the bloke, and taking him off at half-time on his league debut should have been an amusing anecdote in the programme given his later superb career with the club.

Exactly this.

It was issues on and off the pitch that have blotted the Adams copybook. His whole reputation has been tarnished by his abysmal 2nd spell ( leaving the club in tatters and facing relegation ) and his achievements first time round are still being overrated by many fans. A lot of managers could have got us promoted from the bottom tier. A lot of managers wouldn't have walked out of Brighton for the first decent offer that came along.
It was Michel's night and he made exactly the right choice in not featuring Adams.

I disagree with almost every word of that. Do you know where we were when Adams took over? We had that brilliant run of 14 unbeaten to stabilise the club in League Two before winning the title. Half the players he signed are now 'club legends' (that should reflect well on the bloke who signed them).

It wasn't just a case of getting a team to play, he built a side to achieve promotion (or two, as it turned out), and not a single manager in his position would have turned Leicester down, to think otherwise is naive. The second spell clearly didn't go as well, we all know that, but that shouldn't blind you to what he did achieve.

Kuipers is a great bloke, but IF he was involved in this decision (and I don't know that) that is a huge shame given Adams signed him.

Just far enough away from LDC
History is in the hands of those that write it.

Wilkins' dismissal was seen as a Knight decision (and Knight to his credit took the full responsibility for it) despite input and agreement from a large number of current board members. It is therefore easy for Wilkins to be quoted on club products.

With Adams - he made a number of comments post his departure that didn't play well on others who were on the board or shareholders. So despite Knight taking responsibility it is easy for people to read that others forced the position. Therefore he may not be as in demand for giving his view now.

btw - I'm talking about the Withdean years piece rather than the Kuipers testimonial piece as there may well be other reasons why he wasn't included in that.

Anyone else read that according to Harty, Adams said that he had always planned to sub Kuipers at 1/2 time at Southend. However everyone else who talks about it in the program says differently?

If there is even a shred of truth in that, I will be amazed.

I agree that it is tosh. Even Dick Knight said that he had to comfort him on the coach back home. Just surprised that such different comments and versions of the incident made the program

To be fair, how do we know they haven't? All I can say is that Micky Adams is honestly the most paranoid man I have ever met and I doubt he's the most forgiving type.

Adams was absolutely abysmal second time round and didn't deserve any more time. It was a miracle we even stayed up after his shoddy management.

I couldn't disagree more with this bit. He brought in some brilliant signings for almost no money at all and we battered that division. It was his contacts at Brentford and Fulham that built the core of the promotion squad that was the foundation of the following 3-5 years of sustained success.

I think you're rewriting history based on his horrid second spell.

Although stumbling across Bobby Zamora when he did was *very* lucky, especially as it was only because Lorenzo Pinnamonte went to Brentford.

The Harty, Adams comment, was very much tongue in Cheek.

Both Micky & Dean Wilkins were approached by phone to be included within the programme. The numbers used could have been wrong, they could have both been very busy with pre-season planning but in both cases they did not respond to the requests.

On the whole, the programme content, was produced independantly of the club.
