Wilkins was not up to the job of getting this club promoted. We probably would have regressed next season. Wilkins would not have got us promoted before Falmer. Adams is by far an all round better manager than Wilkins so its a good decision.

Never go back, it always ends in tears.

Time for Knight to fall on his sword, he is now taking the club backwards.

I suspect that no-one within the coaching staff knew before this evening and that Wilkins is very likely to leave.

But Guy has just said that Wilkins has been missing for the last three weeks and the rumours were about at Xmas.

Wilkins is a decent coach but he is not a manager. I've said before there was a real problem with him regularly losing the confidence of the players and on many occasioins losing the dressing rooom. Players have come out and said this and it was also stated to me by a good source that works closely with the players day to day. Decent, honest bloke but lacks basic man mangement skills. Don't know if dick's done the right thing with MA, but time will tell. Exciting times.

Adams built his last Albion team around his old Fulham team, and Bobby Zamora.

We've just made space for 6 or7 decent signings, he's got no recent successful sides from which to recruit, and even at Albion had a track record of making some utterly toilet signings before Bobby arrived.

Regardless of your feelings for Wilkins or Adams, the timing of the change could not be more vital. One would hope that any manager appointed now would lead us into Falmer, so this could be the second most important management appointment of our history, after Steve Gritt. It may have been better to go for a bit of stability, a fulcrum and a focus for the players at least, at a period when so much else at the club is changing?

Some of those on here who are a bit closer to the inner workings of the club seem to be pretty happy about it - this suggests that there's some fairly dirty linen to be washed in what is likely to be quite a public manner, once Wilkins' inevitable (IMHO) departure runs its course.

I just don't like it one bit - I hope that whatever Knight's reasons are, they're bloody legitimate ones.

Thank you, Nostradamus.

I have been party to one or two things that some 'insiders' on here were party to - people who would have had it straight from the horse's mouth, so I'm only 90% surprised rather than 100% surprised.

Still it begs the point on two levels. One, Dean Wilkins' tenure as manager coming to an end. I am not sure that this was totally necessary. And secondly, of all people to bring in... oh well, as I said, I'll always support the Brighton manager, but I'll wait to see everyone's statements and quotes before I decide on who - if anyone - is being completely shafted.

wonder what prompted this. Shite Season Ticket sales?...bums on seats?...Wilkins lost the crowd? ( which was the last excuse against McGhee)

Is there another chairman who has hired and fired more managers in a 10 year tenure?

How about Mandaric in a year.

The only managers that Knight has sacked are:
Gritt
Wood
Hinshelwood
McGhee
Wilkins

Correct me if I have missed out anyone but that is not too many for over ten years in charge. I would also not guarantee that it was Knight and not some other investors who made the decision (as with McGhee allegedly).

Interesting Adams ruled by fear so I can see alot more pissed off players. Adams is very much a my way or highway manager.

Personally I feel really sorry for Dean, I thought he did an excellent job.

Welcome back Micky, however fair on unfair it is on Wilkins I think we can all agree that Adams is a complete legend!:yahoo:

Jimmy Melia is a legend as well - why didn't DK appoint him as manager ?

why on earth did DK let DW let TEN.........TEN players go, only to replace him?! What if Adams wanted some of those players?!

bizarre, but hopefully it'll turn out for the best:ascarf:
