Sorry if explained in thread but on basis we are desperate for a left back or wingback why wasnt he tried on that side. Can only think it is because Burn is an automatic pick with Potter. Dont want to be accused not knowing anything about football but but our defence is weak on that side without March

I've had a go in post 79.

Why? He's right-footed, and has played that role before. I think he predominantly plays wide left, largely in a LWB position.
That said, I'd expect Alzate more suited to the RWB role, and Karbownik to the LWB role. Given this, you'd have to ask why Potter put them in those positions. My only answer is that Potter might have Alzate ahead of Karbownik to play LWB/LB for us, now that Solly is out for the season. We currently have Burn that can play LWB and, for me, the next best options would be Alzate and Karbownik. Veltman has done wonders at RWB in the absence of Lamptey, but Potter has said that Mighty Mouse will be back soon, probably for Palace.

He has been paying LWB in Poland because his team had an injury in that position, not because he is a LWB. When injuries allowed, they played him in central midfield. From what I understand he is actually more comfortable on the right, because he's right-footed. It made sense to play him where he's more comfortable on his debut

Does anyone know if he is injured / extent of injuries? Not involved at Palace and no photos/ videos in the recent training uploads.

did very well v leicester so a bit harsh to be demoted IMO

He did play well vs Leicester but that was his first start since early December due to a stress fracture injury, needs to get some minutes to get full match fitness back up and isn't going to get that sitting on the bench in the PL. Bit of a catch 22 at the moment, hopefully he'll get that fitness back up quickly as we need defensive cover the first team at the moment.

The fact that our wingback cover hasn’t been able to make the squad, or even the bench, when our two wingbacks have been out injured for weeks, implies that maybe he’s not up the PL level, yet. With Dunk out, I’d certainly expect him to be in the squad in some capacity against West Ham.

Maybe it's a language thing?

Is Moder much better at English than him?

He was rated as one of the best youngsters in Europe before he came to us.

I take it we knew this?

Michał Karbownik’s agent has revealed Manchester City were keen on signing the defender and then sending him out on loan to Leeds United.

Last summer, Brighton & Hove Albion signed the 20-year-old from Legia Warsaw and immediately loaned him back to the Polish club.

Prior to agreeing a deal to join the Seagulls, Pep Guardiola’s side wanted to acquire his services.

Shame we don’t play him.

See he was on the bench tonight
