Apologies if you know this. You cannot get to the O2 by tube on sat night as Jubilee Line closed between Green Park & Stratford. Great thinking for major gig at weekend:annoyed:

Crap isnt it. I've pre-booked a boat to take me from London Bridge Pier to the o2. Rock n roll eh?

In a pile of football shirts
In light of this nonsense we have decided to give the footie a miss on Saturday, as ther is just no way we can get to our hotel, and then to the show in time if we leave after the football. TFL are a bunch or arses. So instead, we'll take a leisurely train to town, drop our bags off at the hotel, and meet a few friends who are going to the Ingerland game for a few beers at the only pub in London, then the boat to Greenwich. Can't say I am going to miss Withdean particularly.

When I first bought the tickets I did mentally work out I could do both as long as I got the first train out of Brighton.

But, like you, we will now forsake the football and travel up to London at a leisurely pace, check into the hotel and have a meal before boarding the boat. We're going to grab a few late night beers up in town afters as well....and wait for the ringing to stop. I dont think I'll miss Withdean...in fact I think I will have a much better weekend now I've decided against it.

I'm quite looking forward to a cold beer on the boat!

I managed to see the Albion then drive to the 02 and use their car park, worked really well, no hold ups and after, took 15 minutes to get out and onto the A2 - really well organised. As for the gig - absolutely incredible. One of the best ive been too, and a cracking venue as well. The fact they were in the round meant you could get incredibly close to the stage.

Was looking at going to this but didn't want to spend the amount of money they were asking!

Saw Machine Head a few weeks ago too, they still got it. Did they play Davidian? (you might recognise the shout of "let freedom ring with the shotgun blast")

When they first came out, they were fantastic - lost their way a little and are now back to their best.

They probably played these 3

Brilliant gig. Only saw a little of Machine Head so cant really comment. But Metallica were the business. The perfomance they gave was untouchable. They have a certain chemistry and magic which few bands have. They really seemed to be enjoying themselves as well....messing about between some songs and laughing and smiling and stuff.

The in-the-round and open stage worked well. I read they dispensed with video screens to force people to concentrate on the stage and therefore make the gig more intimate. Seemed to work from where I was although I was damn close to the stage.
