Nearly all of The Star reporters tipped us Burnley and Huddersfield to be relegated but one said he thought that we would be the surprise package of the Premier.

Surely you know that the Daily Star's reporters coodent spell properlee and knot evin string a sentense toogether!

Barry Glendenning emphatically said we're down, while Max Rushden has us 4th from bottom.

Agreed, our home form last season was abysmal. Really need to turn that around and soon.

I think this year may be a little different, somehow.

He DOES have a point. Multi-millionaire European players probably don't enjoy visiting the likes of Burnley, Bournemouth and Palace, with the fans close to the pitch in their ramshackle grounds. The Amex must be a far nicer place to come and play, with its big open spaces and ultra-modern facilities. I can't see anyone being intimidated by it.

"But I just see Brighton as a nice place to go for away teams. You're not going to go there and think: "Oh my God, I don't fancy this."

Personally, I think he is right there. It's something we need to change.

Away teams didn't think that last season

Always going to be tipped to go down, Telegraph reckons we'll be rock bottom. Of course newly promoted teams face that challenge, but these 'pundits' don't really base it on much. IMO, we've strengthened as well as some lower-mid teams, we're just missing a striker.

That's because they knew they were coming to play the (2nd) best team in the league. I'd be very surprised if any of them thought that this year.

Regardless of whether his proved right or wrong he is 100% accurate in his statement. The Amex is not intimidating in the slightest for away fans or players and that won't change whether we go down or stay up.

He's no going to say we will be a top ten club is he , also I quite like the fact he stated the thing about other teams fancying it down here , he is bloody right , we seem to make things very comfy for visiting teams , club and fans alike , if we can't show up and roar the team on for 90 mins now when will we ? let'em avit

so, last season his relegation accuracy was 1/3 ... not great. Let's hope it's 0/3 this time.

Merson just automatically picks 2 or 3 of the promoted teams for the drop every year without really thinking. Nothing to see here.
