Meridian News Dubbing

I have just been watching the weekends goals on Meridian News and they dub all the crowd cheering when someone scores. It's an identical sound and 2 occasions it was not even in sync with the crowd.

What's all that about? is it cheaper to broadcast a muted version of the goals with added dubbing?

It depends! They definitely don't for "fierce game" such as Celtic-Rangers; Arsenal-Spurs; Millwall-West Ham et al!

They do it so they can avoid rude chants being blared out to kids watching in their homes! Simples

Sometimes on Meridian, they'd show a crap miss but lazily use the same crowd cheering soundtrack so it sounded completely wrong.

Always made me laugh that goals sounded the same in front of 35,000 at Elland Road as they did in front of 3,000 at Bournemouth.

Don't think they over-dub live audio. They simply change the sound mix from one section of the stadium to another.
