Right, so basically...

I've just cut my own hair. Buzz cut jobbie... its not TOO bad but...

Okay its f***ing horrendous but part of the whole "big wide world aint fair" lessons parents may give children, i pay for my hair cuts. I've not had one since... before the summer holidays perhaps two weeks before the start of the season.

Has anyone else ever had such little money/spent money in more worhtwhile things such as alcohol and other intoxicating substances that they have taken a blade to their own head?

been doing my own hair for about five years, bought clippers from Argos and always seems to turnout OK, although it helps if you have someone to check the back  must have saved quite a bit though.

I bought a set of clippers from Boots about 18 months ago, and my girlfriend cuts it for me once a week. Payed for itself within 2 months - although I am now considering growing it out, but don't want to go through thhe stage where my head looks like a bog brush!

If you want to look as good as me, try Barberellas on Church Road. Opposite Tesco.

Buzzed my hair all over Summer for the first time. Looked alright.
Am now growing it and have a bit of a "Justin Bieber" look...

I used to cut my own hair using clippers at uni when I had far more important beer purchases to make.

My brother (everyone's favourite Saints fan) uses clippers and accidently forgot to put the guard back on after cleaning it and ended having to go for an almost skinhead look. It wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't for the fact it was the morning of another brother's wedding and he was the best man.

I find it's very hard to get a permed mullet right if you do it yourself.

Its not a proper cut with the guard left on , a shaving mirror and bathroom mirror checks the back is ok but after a few times you can feel where the dodgy bits are before a final inspection.

During a time of dire straights I cut the hair of a former housemate and he cut mine...can't say that either of us did a good or bad job but he moaned so much, despite asking for a grade 2 all-over, that I never offered again.

I would go with the comment above about asking for someone to check the back, but if you want a short hair cut with the same grade all-over then it shouldn't be too difficult doing it yourself. Have to say that I can't abide having long hair, my rule is that if my hair sticks out in odd directions after I have worn a hat then it is too long. If you go to a barber then a basic buzz-cut shouldn't cost a fortune and at least you are leaving it in the hands of an expert...had mine cut yesterday for £8, including tip, and having shaved off my beard I feel really sharp again!

When I was at school many years ago...ie 60s... a classmate had some money from his mother to go and get a hair cut...which he spent on sweets etc...my mate lived right next to the school (Knoll Academy for young Gentlemen) and we offered to cut it for him. Our method was to use an electric meat carver.
Bless him, his hair never recovered all the time I was at school, and I still remember his name...Frank Murasko...believe his father was a professional wrestler, so lived in fear for a while.

I always cut my own hair, I mean actually with scissors and stuff too not just the clippers. I used to have a girlfriend who was training to be a crimper and I was her guinea pig so by listening to the tutor I picked up how to do it myself. I reckon I could do a men's haircut pretty well.

Obviously the back is hard but I just go messy with the wax afterwards anyway

I get my head shaved as short as possible (grade zero) about once a month in Thatchers, Haywards Heath. There's a lovely woman that does it and can feel her tits rubbing against me. :)

I shaved my own head once. Did a good job, Then i asked my mum to clean up the edges at the back without the comb on the clippers.
Instead of trimming around the edges she shaved the back of my head & as a result i had to shave my whole head & looked like an extra from American History X.
Tried once never again.
