Big difference is that the Duke of Windsor wanted to stay involved in the Royal Family even though he had given up his throne because he couldn’t keep it if he married the woman he loved. Harry seems to want nothing to do with the Royal Family other than using his titles for his own (financial) benefit.

Big difference imo as Harry wasn’t told he couldn’t marry the woman he loved. Milked the bonus’ too before he semi quit

He is either in or out so why not walk way and rescind all titles and benefits?

Yes this was going on before they got married. There was very little in the press after the wedding apart from good stuff.

They got the fairytale wedding 45m spent on it. Within a few months they started the move away. Cake paid for and eaten.

They should have announced the decision to step back prior to getting wed, had a small wedding at a registry office and foxtrot Oscar.

Harry previously didn’t have an issue being filmed for documentaries when in the army or such like, his previous mistakes were exposed by friends not the hounding of the press. His mothers death changed the way the press operated around the boys and they were protected. The issue does appear to be when the person is not in the Royal family ie before and now after. They are now free vend to the gutter press as they only have lawyers to protect them and not the firm. Could get nasty.

As measured as the BBC for some things. It is an interview watch it and if you think it’s biased Sun sensational crap feel free to come back and say so.

Not everything all the time is made up you know. Problem is some have a blinkered view that clouds a measured view in life.

I don’t think the BBC is balanced nowadays since the government put their own men on the board.

No, I think all we know is other people’s opinions.
The Queen gave them their titles and only she can remove them. Her father gave his brother the titles of Duke & Duchess of Windsor, and didn’t remove them, so why should she?
The Duke of York has stepped back from duties but not had his title removed.
They have given up their HRH status, but it seems that’s not good enough for some.

Nor should it be , i will have to ask for a little leeway in my obtuse but sincere thinking here , the titles you bear should reflect in your behaviour . With my families background and my pastimes when i hear The Duke of York i see a magnificent ship that kicked the crap out of Scharnhorst and the honour`s that she holds not some over privileged playboy who takes advantage of young girls . So why should a pair of self publicising whingers continue to hold a title that is not being shown the respect it deserves .

That’s being pedantic you know full well the point I was making. Yes it’s got the Sun plastered all over it, it is though an interview with a man who is well respected by all those involved with the Royal bandwagon whether within or media. He gave his honest opinion. It is balanced and he knows a lot more than you and I.

I've tried to read this thread but I find I'm more than semi-detached. I have nothing against the Royal family, the ginger one and his film star girlfriend, old mad Charlie et al, but unless someone films one of them doing lines of a ladyboy's bare arse, or sitting on a dead horse, or sailing single handed around the world, I find it hard to.....sorry what was the question again?

Found myself in the meh camp till very recently.

Now I wish they would just go away, it’s dull and tedious.

You can’t even switch off from it as it is everywhere.

Well, we’ll see after this very ill timed whinge (I am just guessing here on the whinge bit) on Monday

You think all is hunky dory presumably?

Appears to me that he/his wife/both of them have pissed the “Firm” off big time

I’d appreciate an announcement that they’ll bin the Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles as they make a new life for themselves away from the Royal Family, though it’s not going to happen is it?

I have no problem with them walking away from being Royalty but they it seems to me they want to hang on to the bits that suit.

In The Sunday Times today:

But in a sign of how febrile the situation is, courtiers last week discussed whether to strip Harry and Meghan of their titles, on the grounds that the dukedom was given by the Queen on the understanding that Harry would be a senior working member of the family.

Such a move was described as “a big step” that would tear up the “Sandringham summit” agreement, which drew up the terms of the couple’s departure from royal life. But one source in the royal household described the Queen as “cheesed off” by the broadcast, adding: “I don’t think that after this interview anything is off the table, to be honest.”

The Megan show is just for America; it's not designed for us except as the baddies in some cliched American view of Britain.

No problem with them going wherever they want and earning money however they want, but it does make me yearn for some kind of censorship that would get them out of the headlines.

Just ignore them and don't read it, you say? You try and search for what's happening in Sussex and avoid them...
