The Stockport Mafia.
Well, we all know that Dicker is a legend here already... i only put his name in to make the theme of this post obvious. No complaints there, no need for inquiry, an excellent player and asset for the club. Player of the Season?
Well anyway, the point:
In light of recent events as discussed in the Tiny Cox thread, the loaning out of Dickinson and Tunnicliffe and the relegation in pecking order of McNulty, I thought i'd share my thoughts on a minor, but maybe telling, incident involving 'Dicko' and 'Jimmy Mac'
on the subject of gus' authority/dickinson/jimmy mac -
as well as being patchy players at best, i disapproved strongly of their behaviour at stockport. you'll have heard the cheers they got from the home fans.
i happened to be in the home end (stockport fan mate whom i was visiting... he won the toss ) where there was a cluster of juveniles playing up all game in the corner, which is fair enough in itself.
I had an unbeatable view of both players spending a few minutes each at least, chatting to the little (tykes) and signing autographs with big grins on their faces... whilst the game was going on and they were supposed to be warming up. this pissed me off quite a lot, and it doesn't show absolute dedication on either part...
i tried to stare daggers at them but as i was in the home end i would have just looked like the bitter spurned lovers... that a few of the local faithful clearly were!
much as they will have enjoyed their reception, which is understandable, i thought it was very unprofessional - they should have just acknowledged, smiled, and carried on warming up and paying attention to the match.
maybe yet another nail in the coffin, if gus noticed he can't have been impressed.
was the stockport contingent too many in number? perhaps they were all too pally and unfocused... lets snaffle the head boy and ship the rest out.
